CUJMee (U6758932) posted Oct 28, 2008 I believe there's a bit of a mini-resurgence of interest in tennis in Scotland at the moment, because of the Murray factor. That makes it all the more sensible of the LTA to have the DC in Glasgow to help push that enthusiasm along, epscially among kids. Imagine how much greater the impact might be if it were to come (whisper it!) on the back of a first Murray slam win in Melbourne!

wilsonhyperhammer (U2137344) posted Oct 28, 2008 Looks a good move politically as it will be hard for Andy Murray to say 'no' to playing if the tie is to be held in Scotland. After the debacle against Austria I reckon he would have been releuctant to play in a Mickey Mouse tie anywhere else.

JessieScarisbrick (U13449517) posted Oct 29, 2008 Glasgow has had Davis Cup before. I think the tie should have come to the north of England, who are now along way away from any top-level tennis, especially now Nottingham has gone. Surely the tie could have been played at Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield Arena?

Gouroux (U11046047) posted Oct 30, 2008 Cunning move by the LTA which I wholeheartedly applaud. How many folk living in Scotland will normally get a chance to see "their man" in the flesh? This will be like doubling + on the partisan crowd factor. Meanwhile those of us in the far-flung corners of England can still watch him close-upon TV!
