Tomorrow's another dayPremier League Portsmouth by eastneypfc (U13653992) 26 October 2008 Like most Pompey fans I'm still trying to get my head round the last 24hrs - the clocks went back and somehow we lost our Manager. My first reaction is one of being gutted - my second shocked at the speed of it and the third somewhat pee'd off that Harry has gone to Tottenham. vegaspompey (U13654054) posted Oct 26, 2008 Unfortunately this comes as no surprise really. Redknapp's been itching to leave for a while now. Probably turned down the Newcastle job as he didn't want to up-root to the North-East and Tottenham "big club" Hotspur allows him to communte from his palace on the South-Coast daily. There's absolutely zero loyalty towards clubs these days as money talks too loudly. Anyone say Cristinao Ronaldo? The fans are the last "till I die" faithful.'Arry did a great job and deserves the appreciation that most Pompey fans will allow him for turning around this great club. That said, he's also shown that he will say anything one day and U turn the next when it suits his pocket. I'm not questioning his move for financial reasons and if most of us had the chance we would take a pay rise anyday. Just don't say one minute that you're here for life and have a spiritual connection and then pack up as soon as you get the call and claim you're doing us a favour. I'm disappointed in you Harry. Not for the first time either!

i_ammightberight (U11277940) posted Oct 26, 2008 Why do people always assume that it's for "financial" reasons? Money to spend on players yes, but it's quite arrogant to think of Portsmouth as the holy grail for managers to achieve their personal ambitions. Let's face it, Spurs have more potential than Portsmouth - Harry took them as far as he could. You can whinge all you want about it being for the money, but I assure you there are plenty of other reasons for not wanting to stay at Portsmouth for the rest of his career!

vegaspompey (U13654054) posted Oct 26, 2008 This "we're a bigger club traditionally than you" mentality always makes me smile. If you're Man U or Liverpool then I think you have a point but traditionally Blackpool, Preston North End and Charlton are 'bigger' clubs than most. It's like saying England won the world cup once so traditionally are a powerhouse in football. Maybe i'm missing the point and i'm not ragging on Spurs as I have no problems with the club. The bottom line is Harry went for money and if that's the case then good luck to him I say also. I wish he would just come out and say it and I would have more respect for him!

twinklebathat (U12224172) posted Oct 27, 2008 There are more factors to consider than just money. I`m sure newcastle offered him a big contract. As has been pointed out, Tottenham are a bigger club, have been in the premiership every year, can attract bigger names etc. Pompey are a good club, but they are already punching above there weight. Harry brought them the FA Cup, certainly not a feat they are likely to reproduce anytime soon. Whereas Pompey can`t realistically except to do any better in the near future, tottenham are a club capable of making the uefa cup on a regular basis. I`m not a fan of either club, but I think they both have good squads and are capable of playing good football. But you`d have to be pretty biased not to accept that Tottenham are the bigger club.

DodgyArry (U9418242) posted Oct 27, 2008 It's bloody depressing: I thought, for once in my life, that we could kick-on & become an established mid-table club with occasional forays into Europe. I fear a mass exodus of talent, poor replacements & dallying with relegation again. Hope I'm wrong.
