Chelsea fan here. Spurs may be our rivals, but I'm absolutely delighted for Harry Redknapp. He's a top manager who's honest and speaks his mind, and he deserves to be managing one of the top clubs in the league. He could manage one of the top four clubs and be successful. He's great with the players and since he won the FA Cup with Portsmouth, I really do rate him highly.

I thought Juande Ramos was a great manager. Spurs fans may disagree, but a bad manager doesn't win consecutive UEFA Cup trophies and give Spurs their first trophy in nine years. Unfortunately after a bad start, and as he stupidly sold Berbatov last minute in transfer window just to hold out for a couple more million and not getting a replacement for Robbie Keane, he had to pay the price and it was time for a change.

I do believe that not this season, but next season they'll break the top four. Harry Redknapp is an outstanding appointment and it's great to see an English manager get a top job. I'm excited to see how Spurs will fare with Harry in charge

cant believe he has gone there. only a couple of weeks ago redknapp was saying how big of a disgrace the spurs fans were towards sol campbell. Its a perfect match made in heaven for me. A backstabbing club with a backstabbing manager, i hope spurs get relegate.

i dont really know how becoming tottenham manager can be described as a "top job." The club is in turmoil, and although his first job is to guide spurs away from relegation, which i am sure he will, the expectations will rise and he will be given less than a year to turn them into a op six challenging team.

I'd agree... Could you really see Pompy ever realistically finishing higher up the league than 6th or 7th in this current environment? Much like Charlton a couple of season Pompy are a mid-table side at best, sure they could over achieve and qualify for the UEFA cup and maybe have a decent cup run but thats their very limit. I don't think anyone would ever accuse Spurs of lacking ambition or in mist cases backing it up with investment. Harry's backed himself to be the man to make that break through for them so fair enough to him. Spurs along with City, Villa and (if they ever get their house in order) Newcastle are the only clubs with the infrastructure, finances and fan base to challenge the current top 4.

Regarding the club being in turmoil, it's only on the pitch (and thats where Harry thinks he can make a difference) off the pitch they are probably amongst the healtiest in the EPL and pretty well run (on the non football side).

Hahahahah - English manager in a top job? There already is - Phil Brown. I always had a soft spot for Spurs, largely thanks to their devil may care playing style of yester-year. My almost pathological dislike of 'Arry Redknapp ensures that I wish relegation upon them. It'll be a laugh, anyway smiley

More to the point, why the happiness? Do you reckon that he's taken the Saints relegation achievement off his CV yet? Also, let's be fair, you've largely played all your relegation rivals already - check the fixture list for a reality check. Of the 30 games left, 10 are against 'big 5' (inc. Hull smiley) That means that you've got to win at least 12 out of the remaining 20. Ho ho ho ho smiley

As the great unknowneldgeable from downunda I thought Berbatov was great and now he's not there;
why watch them. The comp. seems hheavily weighted.

I do think that there is more than meets the eye in Harry's move to the Spurs, look at his previous moves Bournemouth To West Ham, understandable, left West Ham after a dispute with the Board, left Portsmouth after a Director of Football was imposed upon him, Southampton - Lowe after promising him funds and that he could keep players - reneged and did neither. There have been rumours for weeks now that Pompey were up for sale and it is common knowledge that players were sold in the Summer that Harry wanted to keep. The relationship with Levy will be interesting, because Harry won't be messed about.

THANK THE GOD OF FOOTBALL HEAVENS!
Harry Redknapp Manager of Tottenham!
Juande Ramos a total, utter, indescribably useless blot on the White Hart Lane landscape has gone!
2 Questions: 1) WHY did it take Levy so long to sack the spanish dimwit & the other 2 nonentities? & (2) WHY is Levy & his wretched Board still able to wield power after such an incredibly inept series of dismissals (Martin Jol) & appointments (Camomile blunderman & Gus "what's the point-of-you" Poyet)?
Still, REJOICE, REJOICE, REJOICE!
Spurs are going to stay up by 9 points minimum, we'll retain the League Cup & possibly win the FA Cup with Harry in-charge!
Of course the little local business this Wednesday is a different matter & I doubt very much Harry can work enough magic to see Spurs take 3pts off the Gooners (but, with Harry, next season we'll take all 6).

Bronco3114 - with an attitude like that in terms of slating Pompey considering their recent achievements, and gloating at the fact that they've lost a very good manager makes me start to think maybe Spurs deserve to get relegated along with Newcastle.

Talk of the pot calling the kettle black calling Pompey 'just a mid-table team'..so what does that make Spurs then? Bargain basement?? and Spurs have never been a nid-table team have they! apart from one season when they nearly broke into the top 4 they haven't looked a top team since the days of Hoddle and Waddle back in the 80's.

Another thing...Redknapp may be good enough to manage England but he's not the England manager - Capello is. Would you swap Capello for Redknapp?? I wouldn't. Redknapp is a very good manager but Capello is in a different league- Anyone who has Managed Milan (TWICE), Real (TWICE),Juventus, and Roma just cannot be doubted in anyones book...who on earth out there still doubts Capello??

Getting back to Spurs, Harry has his work cut out in turning a team heading for the championship (which is what they are right now)into acomfortable mid-table team which is surely his remit - isn't it? not saying that Spurs won't ever get into the top4 but it will take along time for the club to get to the level that they achieved under Jol - and they still didn't get into the top4 then..so maybe they never will esp. now that Man City have come into things... and Villa haven't looked this good since the early days of the Premiership. Guess Spurs will just have to rub shoulders with Pompey whether they like it or not..providing they stay up otherwise they'll be knocking around with Crystal Palace and QPR nxt season.
