Well Done the Mackems!!Premier League Sunderland by Magpierob (U10805100) 25 October 2008 As a geordie fan it pains me to say it but WELL DONE you deserved it on the day. No excuses, Cisse made Coloccini look a goon, some of our team were pityful, yours were up for and the weather spoilt it a bit but hey it was good. end2endgame (U12981753) posted Oct 25, 2008 Well done Sunderland. What's this debate about who's better???? It's patently obvious that one club knows where it's going and everyone is pulling together in the same direction while the other continue to play like they've never met beforehand are only a fraction better than Spurs. A club which persists in keeping a scumbag like Barton doesn't deserve to get any sympathy. Sunderland need to hang on to Keane as the difference he's made since he arrived is massive. Well done.

gatesheed (U13348958) posted Oct 25, 2008 Despite the wind killing what would have been a better contest had skills been able to be displayed, Sunderland were worthy winners. You have been robbed a heck of a lot lately, and especially last time at your place from Milner's cross-shot. I really like/respect Quinny and Keane and am genuinely pleased to see your club and great fans getting some payback after years of selfless sacrifice. We Mags also deserve something for decades of the same, albeit not today. We are in a sad position but we won't go down. Good players are still to come back and Joe Kinnear's turning the confidence back up. New owners will hopefully address the squad size in January, though the season's knackered again this year. But, once again I congratulate your team and supporters for a good win. If the reports are correct about a female steward getting punched, and an old man outside, then I'm truly ashamed of the miniscule minority of mindless idiots which blight both of our clubs.

ryanthemadgeordie (U13042316) posted Oct 25, 2008 But at the end of the day, its took them 28 year to beat us. There season is basically complete because of that win. They have mexican waves because they beat us. There fans get on the pitch like they were some small team beating man united in the 3rd round of the cup. There players will be go around the city in a open top bus because of this victory the are sad sad people and have been waiting years for the victory. They think there now the best team in the world. Roll on janurary when the we hammer them and put them back in there place

gatesheed (U13348958) posted Oct 26, 2008 Marcusblackcat, I meant the skill of everyone on the pitch. I hope you saw our 10 men Herculean battle against man. city. Second half we ran them and ourselves ragged, and Gutierrez is very skilled when he's match-fit, so is Owen and Duff who showed his old class and speed. But without the wind we would've seen a better game, not detracting from your worthy win though. peace

Superdave1155 (U13254583) posted Oct 27, 2008 I get really sick of all this not won for 8 years stats when 4 of those years were spent in the championship. It's like saying Man U haven't beaten Doncaster in 40 years (a bit exaggerated but I'm sure you get my meaning).

davidlqs (U1727473) posted Oct 27, 2008 What a winner! Disappointed we couldn't scrape another battling point from the Mackems, but that shot from Richardson was unstoppable. You won't see Given beaten too often by a shot that was well within arms length. Comment on this article
