Fifa to reveal 2018 bidding process

World Cup
comment on the article

The bidding procedure for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups is expected to be revealed on Friday.

Fifa is set to announce a deadline by which bids have to be entered and state whether or not they should take place simultaneously for 2018 and 2022.

A spokesperson for world football's governing body said Belgium and the Netherlands were the only countries to have formally declared bids for 2018.

But the English Football Association has confirmed it will bid for 2018.

Where would you like to see the 2018 and 2022 World Cups go?

im actually putting it out there for a joint USA and Canada bid..They really love their soccer in Canada, especially in Quebec Provence and USA is really growing as a market for the sport both commercially and playing wise..
having lived in the states for a number of years i dont agree that the US will suck the soul out of the game, however there is a very distinctive manner in which america both stages sporting events and broadcasts them..and they wouldnt be playing at the Home Depot Center...
i would think theyd attempt to keep play many of the games in cities with big immigrant populations so id think theyd use Seattle, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, NYC, Boston, LA/San Diego, Miami, Dallas/Houston/Austin, Chicago.. All of which by then will have built firm soccer interest in the local community through established MLS franchises.

Last time I looked, the 'Celtic Ring' comprises Scotland, Ireland (all of it), Wales, Brittany, and Galicia (I speak as proud Cornish descent). How does this fit in? A final at Home Park Plymouth??

Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Australia, China, Kazakhstan, Iceland, New Zealand, Canada, Malawi, Egypt, Morocco,

Though I know a few of them would be unfeasible (especially Malawi).

But no doubt it'll go to Italy, France or some other Western European country, the US, Mexico or Brazil.

Personally, I would love to see it in Australia for 2018, because then i could go and watch it live, but then i would happily make the trip to England for 2022.
Across the whole of the UK would be good though, because the Scots would probably stir some trouble up if it wasn't co-hosted there. And then if they kicked up about, the Welsh would aswell. so its better to keep the peace and put in a UK bid. National stadiums (besides wembley) should be used in every round, but instead of using Wembley, use Old Trafford until the final. St. Mary's should also be used in the group stages because its a great stadium and doesn't get used as much as it should.

If Aussie is going to host the World Cup in 2022 or even 2018 then their stadiums are going to have to have alot of upgrades done to them, but with the amount of money being poured into the very succesful A-League then that shouldn't really be much of a problem. The Aussie crowds are great, no matter what sport you're watching and they will spend virtually any amount of money for beer ale, so you could rip them off really easily. laugh FIFA WC 2018 should definitely come down under, but the only problem with that is that then there would have been 3 WC's in a row in the Southern Hemisphere and UEFA would kick up about it, but that would be something that FIFA would have to solve, lets just hope that if that is the case, they are better at resolving situations than the UN laugh

2018 I'd like England (and possibly wales). It'd be nice to have Scotland in as well but you cant as for 3 home nations automatically qualifying, its too much. maybe if we just has Wales it wouldnt be so bad as England are fairly likely to qualify anyway (we have tended to recently except 1994 and 1978). on the whole though I dont like joint bids getting two entrants, not fair. I think Russia will be our main rivals though.
2022 I'd love to see Australia get it and I'd have them as favorites for it. I'm worried that the USA will get it even though they've only had it recently. China would also look to me like the main challengers to the Aussies though.
In summary:
2018 England, but maybe Russia
2022 Australia, but maybe China

i wouldnt mind seeing the 2018 world cup being held in england.look at the stadiums england already have e.g.wembley,old trafford, anfield which is going to be getting either made bigger or new stadium(stanley park),white hart lane, emiertes stadium and many more. i am also sure that other clubs will be either getting their stadiums made bigger or even maybe new stadium al the gather. england can also share with scotland for which celtic park can be used but not ibrox because it is about to fall down cause rangers are and have no money.

2022 world cup could be held in spain. they have a good lot of big stadiums like camp nou the bernubou and many more like the mestella.they might also be able to share with france.would be good to know asap so we can start saving.

I think it only fair England get a chance as the home of football, after 50 yrs!! But nations such as Russia or Australia would be good. I think it totally unfair for Spain, Italy, France etc to host again before England, it's their turn. USA makes no sense, tried that, doesn't work. As for the Celtic suggestion, the infrastructure isn't there... and co-hosting is not usually good, just about get away with it in Euro, but IMO S.Korea/Japan just felt too disjointed to me.
