India's biggest win

International Tests India

When a team bats, bowls and fields like India did over the past 4 and half days, theres not much an opponent can do even if its australia.

Being India, the spinners were always expected to do their job. But our seamers exceeded everyone's expectations. No Indian fast bowling duo have challenged a visiting team in India as much as Zaheer and Ishant did. Ishant particularly looks to be having a great future ahead. Its been one year since he burst into the scene at Banglore and he has come a long long way. Even the normally reluctant-to-praise-opponents Ponting, predicted a great future for him in Perth.

In the spinning department, If Anil Kumble gets fit, do we drop Mishra who has bowled superbly @ Mohali? Kotla is a happy hunting ground for Jumbo.

Australia will come back hard @ the Kotla. Hope Indians are ready for it and dont let slip the advantage as they did in MCG 5 years ago

Good of Punter to take it on the chin, especially after his comments following the first Test.

Test cricket had 15 years of West Indian domination followed by 15 years of Australian domination. Are we seeing a transition to a period of Indian domination?

"Are we seeing a transition to a period of Indian domination?"

Well like the proverb says 'A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step' smiley

Aus has no peer except for the above mentiuoned WI in success in away games, no other side comes close, and India were just badly pummelled by M&M in SL

The series so far has been fantastic and im delighted that India have taken the incentive.

I don't see the start of this victory becoming a domination period for India, as there players will get the film star status if they achieve the victory.

Australia won 16 odd test matches in a row and most of them within 3 days. Thats what you call domination.

I just hope Gambhir and Sehwag can give India the starts as they have done in previous tests, alot will depend on the toss as the Dehli pitch looks like it will be a batting paradise.

I think the introduction of Marsh might be a good thing for the Aussies hopefully not.

And assure you me Kumble will probably want to draw the next two tests, lets hope the othr players have another idea.

So lovely to be overjoyed for a while on an isolated match but what a flop to fall fray to Bangladesh in renowned world cup tournament, gifting wickets one after the other to SL minnow Ajantha Mendis..After all it is the spirit of cricket.

SL is no longer a minnow, they are probably going to be the hardest home fortress to crack for the next few years

India and Pakistan have been beaten at home but I cannot immediatelt recall when SL lost a series at home
I really do hope SL sends a full strength side to which ever is their next Test match

pearlsaswinger,
many of your comments show that you have 'some' understanding of the great english game.
when has size been proportional to domination in any field ?
ex english at the height of imperialism ruled half of the world , so why would you bring indias size and population in your equation? beats me

exactly SL are no minnows, and Indians dint just gifted their wickets. Mendis was just unplayable, for 5 different variations, combined with accuracy

Indians and to an (extent !!!!) Englishmen have one thing in common.

They obsess about their moment of glory and get so lost in it that they lose the perception on reality.

Especially in India, If an archer gets a bronze/silver medal at the olympics, you can see an interview about his high school teacher about how accurate he was when he was a 5th grader in throwing chalks at teacher's bottoms....

This is just one test victory. Against a team that has dominated CRICKET in all forms for the majority of our time. Please lets not start to assume that India is the new dominant world power in Cricket.
Why do Indians ( And I WAS bORN in India but not brought up in it)get so excited when the national team plays well, its almost as if they expect the team to suck all the time so when they do play well everyone is shooting firecrackers and dancing on the streets. This is our NATIONAL team in the ONLY( ok more than only) sport we are competitive in. Out of a billion people 11 of them represent us on the field at the InterNational level. We should be expecting this from them as a norm!

Well said, but as an answer I have to say cricket is amazing as a phenomenon in India - only equiv I can think of Football in Brazil and maybe Hollywood/Bollywood mania

It is a neo-religion and cuts accross religious, caste, political, geographical and economic barriers

So signs of celebrations and laments of dismay are highly amplified
