A Hoser (U1795536) posted Oct 24, 2008 Villa and then Casillas to win it. Both were immense for Club and country. Ronaldo was only riding on his teammates. He's nothing without them as was shown when Portugal couldn't even score against 10-man Albania.

XSamSamX (U13646744) posted Oct 26, 2008 I would love for Messi to win, he is the most naturally gifted player in the world and such an intelligent player though he didn't win trophys last season, so doubt he will. Ronaldo will proabbaly win even though when Man United played Barcelona Messi outplayed Ronaldo who seems not to turn up in the big games. Though on current form even though Valencia had a poor season David Villa could maybe get into the top 3, he is outstanding player and seems to score in every game. posted Oct 28, 2008 comment by renoog (U13513755)

ldu03113 (U3633929) posted Dec 1, 2008 If Ronaldo wins it will make a mockery of it and actually be insulting to other nominees and previous winners. The amount of chances and shots that he wastes is incredible. Prime example, last time Man U played Hull, the draw, he had two brilliant chances when he was clean through on goal and missed them both. If he was even half as good as people say he is, he would have put them both away. The likes of Messi would have scored every time. He just an attention seeking poser. Prime axample of that: champions league final, when they won the shoot-out, the whole team ran to the goals to celebrate, EXCEPT Ronaldo who just lay in the middle of the pitch pretending to cry. Also, his free kicks are WOEFUL. The most wasteful free-kick taker ever. And the way he stands with his legs 2m apart before hand is absolutely ludicrous and unnecessary.

renoog (U13513755) posted Dec 1, 2008 Ronaldo will probably win it this year, next year is going to be an interesting contest with the likes of Messi, Ribery, Lampard, Eto'o all on fire so far this season. Even Ibisevic could win it if he guides his team to the Bundesliga.
