India - Australia

comment on the article

At lunch on day three, this Test looks like slipping away from Australia.

At 174-7, the Aussies are still nearly 300 runs behind India, who surely will not enforce the follow-on with a four-man bowling attack and a wicket that is still pretty good (but might not be on the final day).

Assuming Shane Watson doesn't hit a century, we can project the match forward a bit already and wonder what equation Mahendra Dhoni will want to leave for Australia when he makes his declaration.

I reckon a lead of 450 by lunch on day four will be the ticket. India must win this match now, surely!

'Monty may be no Warne/Murali/Mendis, but he'd walk into this Aussie tean.

Yeah, but Hayden/Jacques/Katich/Pointing/Hussey/Clarke/Simmons/White/Watson/Clarke/Lee/Johnson and Haddin would walk into the English team.'

With what Indian bowlers did I doubt if Hayden, Hussey, POINTING and Co would walk in to the Eng team - 5 overs (2 by Bhaji and 3 by Zaheer) and it was all over - about 15 runs I think. Cant win a match with 15 runs Im afraid

The other bloke may get in but I dont know him..Simmons?

If you mean Symonds...hmm..I didnt think he walked? sorry, couldnt resist it smiley

Thecricketer using one match innings as basis for selection is rather thick, even if its a wind up.

You dont have to look far into the history books to find an English innings collapse do you? winkeye

It was a bad test, yeah we got smashed, The Indians deserve it.

Keep poking fun if that's what your doing, but if you're serious then you need your brain checked.

Staff Sergeant, isn't McGain on the wrong side of 35? Not quite 'young' anymore.

By the way, when was the last time England beat India IN India?

Even at home they haven't managed to beat us since '96.

Monty should do better than Giles, Harris and Vettori, but he has Murali Kartik and Ojha in Indian conditions who are probably better

I am interested if Samit Patel proves a lucky left armer like Clarke

Staff Sargent
Apologies. Yes it was jsut fun that is all.

I knwo how good Ponting, Hussey, Symonds, Katich are (Watson and Clarke however need to prove it a bit more).

I wasnt trying to wind anyone - it was just light hearted humor. If you took offense then i appologise

I thought Zaheer Khan was most impressive in his first spell today. At the beginning of the series one would have thought Australia had a better pace line-up in Lee, Clark and Johnson. But, Khan and Sharma have proved themselves to be far superior to their Aussie counterparts thus far in this series.

Khan took 18 wickets in the test series India won in England last year. His 9 wicket haul was the big reason India won at Trentbridge.

His 5 wicket spell at New Wanderers was also very good. India won that test. In that series, I recall he kept bowling to the weakness of Smith and he has done the same to Hayden in this series.

India should use Khan and Sharma carefully, making sure they are not overbowled. Khan has already had a few injuries.

I hopefully the Nagpurt TEst becomes adead rubber we should rest all youngsters for the Eng 7 ODi and 2 Test series and feature all the players who are seniors on the way out or deserve a last chance, and bowling bench

In case Nagpur is dead rubber game:

Jaffer
Chopra
Dravid
Laxman
Ganguly

Peter Roebuck seems to be enjoying the Mohali result. Makes his living in Australia, but can't hide his Brit joy!

Yeah

Great article if you are an Indian fan, but the same article in the Age appeared under a 'Saggy Green' catchy title which is IMHO rather disrespectful of the baggy green
