Ding, Ding! Round: 2

Formula One
comment on the article

Here we go, again! We have: a repeat. Of the front row. From Fuji. Iceman, is going to be out. For revenge. Lewis will pay!

And notice, at Ferrari. In the last, 2 races. When the pressure. Is really on Massa. He has crumbled, and been destroyed. By the Iceman.

Ferrari, must be kicking themselves. For backing; the wrong horse. Massa, is more Buckaroo. Than Red Rum.

"Ferrari is the best team in the history of Formula One, and it is clear that those who go with them, are part of history," the former champion said.

"I have raced karts since I was three years old. In the last 24 years I have been fine with all of my teams, except for one," Alonso said with reference to his disastrous spell at McLaren last season.

"It was the same team that had problems with Senna, Prost, Raikkonen and Montoya. Perhaps the problem is with the team rather than with the driver,"

NikosBg

So in other words Alonso is desperate to drive for Ferrari and will do anything to get into the team.

"His own team mate unhappy and looking for another seat for next year, commentators of the spanish tv channel telecinco said today during qualifying."

"Why on earth would Kovi look for another team? He would only get a much poorer car."

Now Kovalainen and the f1 community in general come to understand what some people meant when saying beforehand that "whoever decides to come to McLaren with Hamilton there will destroy his career by doing so".

(And no that's not because Hamilton would be better than him)

"Whoever wins the title in my opinion will deserve it this year"

The fact that a driver Kubica who cannot get into Q3 with a teammate who couldn't get into Q2 and a car that has not been developed for the second part of the season is still in the mix in the penultimate race says it all about the quality of the frontrunners.

The truth is that this season the level of driving and teamwork at the front has been average at best, and the winners will clinch it not because of their near-perfect standard, but because they have paid a lesser price for their mistakes or the others have messed up a tad more. In other words it will be one of the least deserved championships in history.

I struggle to see why some people follow a sport where they value the leading drivers contributions so little.

Others have been less deserved, for example if Kimi had not have had three engine failures, a puncture and a forced engine change in 2005 (amongst other technical problems) he would have been champion as he was usually the quickest. Alonso profited from this, does that mean he did not deserve the title?

For me, Kovi seems happy in the team. If anything he has made too many mistakes, and had some bad luck, which can happen to anyone. It think Kovi's career is in a far better state now than last year.

Mclaren have a great history in the sport and have had some great champions. People will not always get on with everyone they work with. But they should not be bitter and childish and move on like a certain 2 time champion seems to do.

Not sure if continued ass licking of Ferrari will get Alonso a drive with them. He should just get on a let his excellent driving do the talkin. All a bit disrespectfull of Renault if you ask me. They deserve more after the opportunities they have given him.

Wrong wrong wrong.

Reliability and performance are both part of the game and related to each other. Kimi's McLaren being designed close to the limit might mean that he was seemingly faster due to that. Vice versa Alonso's Renault could have easily been designed or set up to be faster but that could lead to more reliability issues.

On the other hand, if the DRIVING and TEAMWORK standards are mediocre, it is a straightforward conclusion that the quality is low, as these are independent and there is no tradeoff with any other factor that could have benefitted as a result of them being low. Especially when we talk about the 2 teams with the easiest cars to handle (driving) and the best resources (teamwork).
