Blackburns injury plauge midfielder steven reid out for the season with knee injury

Missed? Do you think it is a blessing in disguise?
Replacement in January?

Good luck reidy with your recovery, may be far from your best but we hope you can put your injuries behind you

McTeeth, I would be extremely shocked if Olsson continues at left back. I think United clearly showed that the experimental formation should be put back on the training ground, rather than the pitch!

Return to the team for Pedersen too after the tackle on Babel, will fit straight in to the flying tackle style that Bolton - Blackburn games seem to have the reputation for.

Olsson did nothing wrong against United, Ronaldo got round the back of him once because Olsson slipped on a water logged pitch and is too nice to haul him to the floor and take a yellow. Thats something he will learn to do with experience.

Pederson wouldn't even make the bench if I was Manager, I kept faith with him last season as Hughes wouldnt give Olsson, Treacy or Peter a chance.

Any Rovers fan who has been to games this season will have seen that in Olsson and Treacy we have much better left footed options than Pederson.

He has been completely horrific this season, did absolutely nothing against Fulham and United, nothing. Pederson couldnt tackle himself in a cupboard let alone on the pitch.

Apologies for this relating to Reid.

I also hope that Olsson retains his place as it would not be fair to discard him on the back of the United game, where none of our players got a kick of the ball.

Could Olsson not play further forward with Warnock behind?

I'm not so sure about Treacy as yet, although clearly he is highly rated. Against Fulham for example Matty D caused more toruble on that side in 20 minutes than Treacy did all game. Perhaps better using him in home games for a little while.

Second the above from mcteeth.

Olsson looked good against Ronaldo bar the one moment that led to a goal. Not easy to criticise him given the state of the pitch at the time and the class of the move.

Pederson certainly has looked poor of late.

Reidy hasn't looked up to much of late.

ShortOfIdeas, can you expand upon the experimental formation reference?

as an ireland fan this is horrific news. i really rate reid. we wont make it to s.africa with whelan and gibson in centre mid thats for sure. Reid was playing really weell for us irrespective of how he was playing for blackburn

I'm an Ireland fan and I think Reid has been top of table for both club and country.
He will be missed by country I'm sure.
But another injury will surely not help his position at Blackburn.

I'll make no apologies for telling you that I think it's time to call Reid a write-off. Every year he has a new long-term injury and then when he finally comes back he plays poorly because he's trying to find form and fitness again.

You can't always put these things down to bad luck, and it seems like the lad is just falling apart. If it was one recurring injury then maybe it could be sorted, but there's clearly something very wrong with him.

It's no good paying the wages of a player who will be on the injury table for most of the time and then give you 40-50% for a couple of weeks per year.

andrewmg86 do you ever have any positive comments to make?

But as for Reid i think it is a big blow, i can't see how people say he can't tackle (when he played as our defensive mid for a lot of last season) or pass (when our first goal of the season came from an amazing pass from reid and he is generally veyr tidy with his passing, i can think of one time he has made an awful pass), shooting i admit has never been his strong point but people always says tugay can shoot but aside from one or two wonder goals he rarely scores.

I think Reid is a very well balanced player and when u look at him is far mroe athletic and could run for the whole 90mins of a match, in NO WAY is this a blessing, he is better than moko, vogel and andrews and i'm starting to doubt villanueva (only because Ince seems very reluctant to play him) and tugay is getting on theres only really Dunn (i'm not commenting on Grella as i've onyl seen 45mins of him and he was near to awful lol) whos better at the moment and both of these two seem to struggle immensely with injuries.

Look back to 3 years agos when Reid was fully fit and when Dunn was at Rovers the first time, IF both of these players could hit that sort of form then i'd play dunn attacking and Reid defensive and it would be amazing but sadly i'm worried about Reid cause he surely can't keep getting injuries like this for much longer

reid has been below average in the handful of games he has played in the past season and a half. i know youcould argue that he needs time to get back in synch with the team and pace of the game, but on the whole his injury doesnt chAange our situation that much. we've coped without a good steven reid for a long time now. im sure we'll survive.

the fact that we are worried about the loss of average players like steven reid shows a lack of ambition. our inability to replace him is just disheartening....
