Scotland V BoydEuro 2012 Scotland by unbeatablegunnerdave (U11833204) 16 October 2008 My opinion is the manager should have giving him a chance to prove his loyalty to Scotland instead of not playing him Scotland needs all the help it can get right know just to be able to even get through. Even though I am a celtic supporter I think boyd did the right thing by quiting This is Scotland if you have a problem with a player take your problem behind closed doors not on the field where we need all the skilled players we can get. In my opinion he should have played.. we are up against Holland in the next game which is a good team and after that it gets harder Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

strangenocaps (U13640138) posted Oct 17, 2008 Kenny 6 hate to agree it but the WC 10 is not looking good, but I hope we get through. Boyd is good enough and arguably would have got a goal, he usually does. However he has shown a childish atitude, there are countless other good players who have never even made the squad and won't do because of who they play for. Another travesty was big Dunc in Euro 92, Roxburgh and his 5'6'' forward line against the 6' plus Germans, master stroke, oh I forgot Big Dunc was t DUFC at the time! I am quite fed up of this one for the future drivel on our young starlets who tend to do reasonably well at U21 level and below and are then left to rot when over age. We played experimental in the Kirin Cup and won it. The old guard has to go now Ferguson, Weir, Naysmith et al and get the young boys in. Kenneth, Barr etc. They wil only get experience by playing for the first team and they stand against most of the current squad on an equal footing, they face them every week. In sum Boyd should grow up and get his head down and graft. If all players at whatever level threw their teddy in the corner at not being picked, then football would be in an awful state. Poor example to show to youngsters. The famous words If at first you don't succeed try, try again!

ELTEL82 (U13640814) posted Oct 19, 2008 Again I agree with Kenny 6, I can't see Scotland making it to South Africa i'm afraid, although like most i'll keep my fingers crossed. With resepct to the Boyd situation I am a little torn in my view. No one can argue that the boy has a great scoring record etc etc, however, having followed his career it is clear that he more often than not fails to shine at the higher levels of the game. In several european games Boyd featured in last year he was at times completely out of his comfort zone and could only be described as toothless. Perhaps that had something to do with the system in which he was playing but perhaps not.

cfc8867 (U2684463) posted Oct 19, 2008 I always ask Rangers to bring Boyd on when they need a goal in a big game. I can't understand why any opposition fan WOULDN'T want him on. He never scores in big games so although i suspect all Norwegians wanted Body on i can't understand why any Scotland fans would. Comment on this article
