Premier League Liverpool
comment on the article

Fernando Torres left the field 17 minutes into spains international clash tonight, I hope that it isn't serious and that he's fit for wigan and atletico, also ryan babel picked up an injury as well. lfc have yet to confirm the extent of there injuries, I was praying torres wouldn't get injured I hate the bloody international break

i think we have more than enough to get 3 points against Wigan tomorrow and a positive result against A Madrid. they have lost their last 2 league games 6-1 and 1-0 and play Real this weekend. confidence could be shot come the CL game.
i can't see Torres back for the Chelsea game TBH but if Keane gets a good run as an out and out striker hopefully he will find his touch in front of goal before the SB game.
if we drop points or lose at SB, as much as i want us to win the game, i don't think it will be a major concern. the pressure will be off and hopefully the lads will enjoy the game and se what happens.

i am a bit worried that Torres keeps getting this same injury. hope it's not going to cause to many problems. you only have to look at the promise of Owen and how constant injuries have ruined his career.

I was thinking the same thing. If he has pulled a muscle then is 10-15 days enough time to completely recover, or is it just enough time for him to play through the pain which risks it happening again?

i don't think Rafa will risk bringing him back too soon. as important as he is to us he is usually given time to recover. he wasn't used against United and i think that proves that. i suppose there will be that temptation to bring him in for the Chelsea game but it isn't necessary. the way i see it is we could easily lose that game with or without Torres, so i'd rather we rest him until fully recovered instead of risking him for Chelsea and the injury becomes more serious.
Keane got a goal on Wednesday so he is starting to find the net again and is more than good enough to cover as a lone striker, if Rafa decides to set the team up that way.
plus, we got a deserved point at the Bridge last season without Torres.

"we got a deserved point at the Bridge last season without Torres"

Let's not forget we would have had 4 points out of them last season had Styles not done Roman's drive.

Why hate the International break - don't they allow you lot to get players to have operations so they miss a minimal number of league games.....

As much as I hate international breaks..these things happen.

At the end of the day, Chelsea and Man Utd have had players injured so we cant complain. If were genuine title contenders, we should still be expcting a win tomorrow.

If we were to fail to win the title this season, what's the betting Andy Gray/Ed Munster Lawrenson blames it on Rafa resting Torres against Wigan and Chelsea?

Can't believe managers seriously moan about international breaks considering the number of matches players for top 4 clubs end up having to play in... would Benitez rest Torres for vital Champions League games, even if it was in the player's best interests? Of course not!!! The painkillers would be out!!! It's the excessive club fixtures which are the problem, not international!
