Because with say Chelsea...the "played poorly but won" games are the exception. i.e. they have an off day but STILL win because of their winning mentality a nd individual class.

With England, the "played poorly but won" games are the best we can do...the alternative is played poorly and lost/drew.

to add i am almost 100% certain if mccarean was still around and had the same first halves as we did against the 3 lower ranked teams, we would have drawn at least once!

capello is the real deal and he is given us 100%, with a clear head and i am very very glad we have him!

if wes brown wasnt playing with two quality centre backs each week he wouldnt look half a good as he does now (not saying much). He isnt picked above a fit gary neville(33 years old). you also need to consider who he plays behind. Ronaldo poses so much of a threat left midfielders often have to help out the LB for 70% of a game.

Micah richards according to capello cant zonal mark??!! I will agree in maybe one or two seasons he will be qulaity, should be playing a bit part at the moment tho like walcott. having three pacy defenders around JT will be ideal also. when you compare richards to cole/rio/terry he is very inexperienced. I would entice carragher back and have jamie and richards playing RB until micah can take the place fully.

That said we do have 12 points and im loving seeing a competent manager at the helm. Capello himself says he is yet to get into the players minds. once he does this i think our team will start producing some really quality performances for 90 mins.

Just a point, but the world cup finals will be played during southern hemispheres winter, so the heat and humidity won't be a factor, it will be done to who plays the best football.

Er, South Africa is as close to the equator as the Sahara, so even though it will be their winter don't expect it to be like England in December.

lets clear up the argument shall we! pretoria is in the north of south africa(closer to the equator), i think you will find that the sahara is hot because of the wind trends between the tropics and the equator not so much just sunlight.

Jo'burg is cooler than Pretoria, Durban about the same, both fairly dry. Sounds bloody nice for footbal actually.

In Cape Town, expect rain & high humidity, but temps still well below the summer highs in Germany last time.

It'll be the first World Cup for ages where England will be able to play up-tempo if they want to.
