To a lot of Mackems Sir Bobby Robson is one the few magpies that we respect, along with Kevin Keegan, so why were they treated so badly by their club ?.

Why do we not hear of any support for them anymore and everyone has swithched sides to Wise, Kinnear and Ashley ?

Anyone else think this strange ?

bald-in-guelph - I was absolutely disgusted to read about his treatment and the real story behind his sacking as Newcastle manager in 2004, and the politics of the club for five years at St James’s Park.

It seems that Kevin Keegan was treated in the same disgraceful way but is too much of gentleman to speak about it.

Even though they are our football adversaries, its very sad to see Kinnear and the other Cockneys take the Magpies the same way as Wimbledon out competitive football.

poor bobby, it was heartbreaking for us all when he said his cancer battle will end in defeat. I was very offended by what eyesonthecrowd changed his name too aswell, although I won't repeat it, those who seen it will know.

Everyone in world football loves Sir Bobby for who he is, a respectful, knowledgeable, down to earth gentleman wh wears his heart on his sleeve. I can only thank my lucky stars I got to meet him. Absolute legend. The way he was treated by Freddy Shepherd and the board was disgusting and really, that was Shepherds death knell as NUFC chairman. I was in Amsterdam 6 years back, went into a coffeeshop to be greeted by this massive rasta with the biggest grin I've ever seen (I knew this place was a good choice!). He asked "Where you guys from?" to which we replied "Newcastle". His only reply was, with an even bigger smile "AAAHHH Sir Bobbeeeeee!". This same conversation happened for 4 nights solid.

Neither are true mags.

Sir Bobby comes from a couple of miles south from where I live outside Durham and Keegans Grandparents were from Stanley, both a good way from Tymeside

I will add however, mags or not both deserve respect. Sir Bobby is, and will always be a legend and mutual respect for him will always link Sunderland and Newcastle together.
As for Keegan. He was a great player and manager once but I personally feel that he is not the right choice this time around as the premier league has changed so much while he was gone.

Sir Bobby was and always will be held in the highest regard by toon fans, one of the few true gentlemen to grace the game. Shepherd should have been hanged, drawn and quartered for his treatment of this great man.
Keegan was badly let down by the hierarchy, promised one thing, given something completely different.
Fans haven't "switched sides", but the club goes on and we have to get behind the team and give them our support.

Who gives a Monkey's about Newcastle Old Bhoys, past or present!?!?!

Support your own Club.......... and another Thing Why is all this IngerLand Sh*te on our site.
We all know English players aren't very good thus the Premiership is full of Foreign players!!!!

Saying that, that Nice Man Bobby Robson did sign an Autograph for a mates Daughter at a Sunderland v Mags reserve match at Durham a few Years back and although he professed to enjoy the special Atmosphere of a Derby Game, he always wanted to Beat Us!!! So why are we bothered!!!!

Who has switched side to the cockney's ??

You're living in dream land bonny lad !!

Booby Robson was (and still is) a legend but took Newcastle as far as he could, he started tinkering with the team and eventually was starting to go backwards as many manager's do with limited resources. No excuse for Shepherd's behaviour the man is disgrace but don't forget he was a business man as well !!

Keegan should never have been asked and neither should he have come back to the Toon. It is only the fantasists and young daft lads that wanted him as their returing idol. It was never going to work and it didn't ... no surprise at all!

Now we wait for him to take more money out of our club because he spat his dummy out, I really am starting to despise the bloke.

I hope you all wish Sir Bobby the best for the remainder of his life, it is a tragedy that someone so valuable to English football was not revered more by the football world nor in a position to manage Newcastle during his heyday but such is life and maybe one day we will look back and all admit we could have supported him more.

Who knows who will eventually bring success back to Newcastle, but I'm happy with my memories of 96/97; qualifying for the Champion's League on the final game of the season and the mackems and smoggies being relegated !!

Easy pleased ?? Extremely but it's something neither sunderland nor brough will ever replicate.

it's something neither sunderland nor brough will ever replicate, and something the mags will never do again.

You may have qualified once but in the end you still won nothing.

So don't be so cocksure bonny lad.

We could possibly still be laughing as you get relegated this season.

Man City will beat you tomorrow if we do the same next week you're in D.S pal.
