Moyes Contract
So Moyes has finally signed a new contract, what are you views? From BBC Sport: Manager David Moyes has ended speculation over his future by signing a new five-year deal at Everton, BBC Merseyside understands. Moyes delayed signing on the deal and admitted it may have unsettled his players, who went out of the Carling Cup and the Uefa Cup in eight days. What difference does it make really? A contract means less then nothing in football nowadays. Since I took over six years ago, I think there has been an improvement and the job is that I want a similar improvement over the next five years or so," added Moyes. "I want the ambition to be greater. I want the expectancy to be higher and I want Everton overall to be higher on the field and off the field, I am determined to try and take it forward." But he recently revealed: "I am here and I will sign a new contract with Everton shortly." The 45-year-old has been in charge at Goodison Park since March 2002. Parkinson17 (U13637826) posted Oct 15, 2008 Fortunately, Mr Moyes is not being paid 60000 per week, and as to the comments that no player is worth that amount of money - why would they pay it then? Could it be that these players help generate money for the club? I'm sure Everton are thinking exactly the same thing about their manager, and had Mr Moyes not signed a new contract, and potentially ended up as the latest Tottenham manager for the next 2 months, then Everton would have received about 4 quid in compensation for a manager who has clearly done something right given the durge that we have had to watch since Joe Royle left. Should Everton find themselves with a disgruntled manager come January, how much compensation money will they get? And how much would they have had to pay for a new manager had Moyes gone?
