Ryan will be disappointed. A few bad choices of shots cost him that last frame, which if he's taken I'd have fancied him taking the decider.

Overall a great tournament, and a great final to finish it off with. Lots of century breaks, drame, missed 147 chances. Its just a shame there wasn't a 147 to boot.

Well done World Snooker, and well done to the scots for putting on a great tournament and great atmosphere throughout

Best quality match was Higgins v Ding. Best snooker was played by Day. Biggest mistake was Selby when he should have seen to Day with an easy pot red to leave snookers with other reds tight on the cushion so he hit it too hard, missed and brought the reds out for Day to set up Day's winning clearance. Gamesmanship of the tournament goes to Ebdon for that episode in the decider against Cope. Most amusing incident also goes to Ebdon for potting the brown thinking it was a red.

...actually forget that, Michaela daydreaming and waking up with a yelp as Ding unexpectedly fouled the pink was the most amusing incident of the week.

And shot of the week for me goes to Judd Trump who slotted in a beautiful long red at 4-3 down to Higgins in the semi-final. He eyed it up, took a deep breath and went all out and nailed it beautifully.

Best match was probably Carter vs Day. Started off impressively with some big breaks including centuries, before Day got to the verge of victory. Then something happened in Ali's head which forced him to 'wake up' and started playing like he had been all week. Then a pretty dramatic final framer, the black going in for a foul and an impressive performance for Day to get over the line.

BEST MATCH:

For quality: Ding vs Higgo

For skullduggery: Cope vs Ebdon

For tense finish: Davis vs Gunnel

For knocking a local favourite out with style: Cope vs Mags

This tournament produced plenty of great matches and final frame deciders, i really have enjoyed it, especially the fa cup style draw which i think they should stick to next year. One point to mention: the tables were absurdly quick this week and i think if they get any quicker the very essence of positional play will change, and the use of cue power as a weapon will diminish. neither of these changes would be good for the game. There is an optimum speed most players would wish the tables to run at and i think the limit is being pushed. Great tournaments for davis ( even though he barely made a 50) and trump who is like a young jimmy or ronnie in the making. I know i keep banging on about it but WHERE ARE YOU MURPHY, SELBY, DING, MAGUIRE? these players just aint stepping up to the mantle frequently enough and even attempting to dominate the game. if they want to be known as greats they best hurry up (with the exeption of ding who has more time on his side). Once again, a great from the late ninties/2000's has prevailed
