Next Yorkshire Captain

comment on the article

I know that it looks like Mcgrath will get the captancy again but what do people think of this. He has already had the job before and i would rather have him just concentrate on his batting, with Rudolph as the Captain with Mcgrath as an able deputy.

What are your thought on who should be next Yorks Captain. lets just hope that we can have a better season then this last one.

If you are having a one day team i think that pyrah, has to be in he may not have done much yey in the county championship but in the shorter form he has looked impresive.

It's official - McGrath as captain, Rudolph as vice-captain.

What are your thoughts?

Think Mags was the obvious choice for captain, he gets my backing if he is 100% committed and all the goings on from 2007 are behind him. Not sure for vice, i'd like it to be Hoggard or Vaughan in the 4 day game then give a youngster like Gale a chance in the one day stuff. Could Gale be a FYC? if so i think its time to blood him as vice.

Agree about Pyrah for the one day side, also if Rashid is gonna get picked by England its time to get Wainwright more involved.

With Kruis gone its time to get a seamer signed up, if the rumours about Plunkett are true then thats great.

Remember when we had so many seamers at our disposal? i'd love to see someone in the Silverwood mould breaking through, could Shazhad be the man? I've heard good reports about him.

In the past two years he has been our most consistent performer. Hopefully him being made captain won't have a negative impact on his batting.

Yes I am pleased for him and it brings about a remarkable sequence of events for Mags considering he was going to abandon Yorkshire under the Byas tenure.

I agree with the Wainwright comments - this guy is class!

Personally I would have preferred Rudolph, but Mags was clearly being lined up.

Key now is an opener and a bowler, and groom ourselves a new Blakey!

In an ideal world one of Shahzad or Patterson will make a big step up and lead the line next season. If they do it will give us a bit more freedom. At least we'll have Hoggard all season.

McGrath is a good choice, but also a safe choice, and Rudolph will more than likely be a captain of the future. He's planning to stay quite a considerable time, so i don't see why he won't make the step up one day.

"adil rashid - natural born leader"

LOL..trust me, adil being a very close friend of mine is not a natural born leader! Adil with his bags of talent is more of a team player then team leader. Mcgrath is a fantastic choice btw. He'l do well to lead the team next season. smiley

Rashid has far too much potential to go adding pressure on him by making him Captain. The good thing about McGrath is he's had a taste of it all, very experienced and will hopefully know what to do when a wicket just isn't coming.

Plus as a reluctant medium pacer, he has the ability to give himself a few overs which in the past have seen wickets fall mainly through complacency.

Good shout re Mags's medium pacers dpr.

Any news on if we are looking to sign anyone?

Regan came out and said something the other say that implied a youngster will get their chance (Think it was after Patterson signed on).

Will be interesting to see. They seem to rate Bairstow highly...He could be keeper!
