BANG - Bath take a Dive.European Bath by A Poor Mans Crusade (U13420101) 12 October 2008 1 second on the clock, quite literally 79:59 seconds when Toulouse turnover, launch a stinging counter down the right wing ending with Tonguy a metre from the line and penalty advantage which David Skrela then curls one wide left of the posts before it swings in on the breeze to just slip inside the post for the win. fabricetoulouse (U13632616) posted Oct 12, 2008 I am a fan of Toulouse, and have to say that Bath plaid very well today and could have won. i liked their willingness to attack all the time, and not to play too much with the forwards. I also like their fair-play. Toulouse was lucky to win at the end, but to their credit, they never gave up either.

Gibson (U9085380) posted Oct 12, 2008 Bath played well and should have taken Toulouse in their own house. Would not be unduly worried about either of these two teams for the HC. Toulouse are flattering to deceive in the TOP14, methinks.

CaptainSpectacular (U9208515) posted Oct 13, 2008 It was down to inexperience of the ELV's and mistrust of the refs. The Eurocup was always going to be where the most confusion would reign. Biaritz were moaning about their scottish ref and Munster didn't like Wayne Barnes, all due to elvs!

stendashtommy (U7013689) posted Oct 13, 2008 Discipline, guys; can't afford to give away penalties, particularly in opponents' half. Some posters have commented on ELVs and referees' interpretion thereof; some are good (5m behind scrum, kicker back into 22) some are bad (pulling down mauls) supposedly for the sake of the game. RU used to be about ruck and maul. You can't 'ruck' any more (that's why players like Richie McCaw are so good 'falling on the wrong side') and now you can't really 'maul' anymore. Contrary to those who like to see 'the girls in the backs - to quote Mickey Skinner of England and Harlequins some years ago' make scything runs, some view rolling mauls as equally entertaining. It's supposed to be a 15-man game utillising teams' strengths and weaknesses to test an opposition's defensive gambit and counter it rather like a game of chess. If we want draughts I guess we'll just have to watch RL which is the way our game is going.

bathreds (U9219758) posted Oct 13, 2008 But to go from the elation of the try a couple of minutes a go, to the depression of the penalty award. Then the elation when it looked like it was sailing wide only to swerve in at the depth, gutting.
