Give your views on N Ireland's defeat

World Cup Northern Ireland

Slovenia struck twice in the final 10 minutes to dent Northern Ireland's chances of making the 2010 World Cup.

Kyle Lafferty volleyed wide for the visitors in a scrappy first half and the striker was denied by keeper Samir Handanovic's 64th-minute block.

Jonny Evans squandered another good chance as NI pressed before Slovenia went ahead through Milivoje Novakovic's close-range finish on 84 minutes.

Zlatan Ljubijankic slotted past Maik Taylor seconds later to seal the win.

Nigel Worthington's team are fifth in Group Three after what he said was a must-win game.

So, what did you think of the performance and what changes would you make to give Nothern Ireland hope of getting to South Africa.

I would never have Lawrie back to the team...he sold us out for personal gain and he would do the same again.

OWC, I think you are being unfair to Lawrie. Don't forget that National Manager is a professional position and I wouldn't hold it against Lawrie to further his career, just as I wouldn't hold it against a player to move to another club.

His stock had never been higher and if we had performed disastrously in the last three games of the campaign against Sweden, Denmark and Spain then he could have been back to the bottom of the pile.

It is a pity that Fulham didn't work out for him. He bought alot of OWC boys on board, which proved his commitment to us.

I think few rational people would allow their love their national side to hold back their career be they Lawrie Sanchez or anyone working in another industry.

NI had the chances, but didn't take them, they had chances and too them, and thats what killed us.
It looks like a confidence issue in the team. On the bright side a good game against San Marino will do the side wonders.....

Having endured Worthington at Norwich for more than long enough, incidently he did nothing at Blackpool either, the only way for this group of players to get back to winning ways is for him to go!
Due to Ipswich's new found wealth, no matter how well Ipswich do in the league, the fans are not going to be happy with Magillton.
I think he would be a positive suitable alternative to Worthington.

Now Now!
Can't we all just get along! (Rodney King)
There is 1 simple solution to this lads?
Join both N. Ireland with the Republic!
We all would have a great chance of going places, N.Ireland have a decent team and the Republic have a slightly better team? ( but both teams are missing a few players, cmon lads lets think about it!
1 Think about the rugby team.
If they can do it we can do it?
ok
