Hello you

Sitting comfortably? I hope so, because we've got a long, arduous day of top-class international football viewing ahead of us... life is cruel no?

Scotland kick us off at 1500 BST against Norway at Hampden, quickly followed by England v Kazakhstan (1715 BST) and Wales v Liechtenstein (1730 BST). The big finish comes from Slovenia v Northern Ireland at 1945 BST. Luvverly.

>>Who cares in which half the goals come

Well, if we keep a clean sheet every time, I agree with you.

BUT. If we don't, and the opposition score early and we don't, we are forced to chase the game. And we aren't necessarily very good at that. I just think it could hurt us when we play a decent side...

Of course, if we manage to win the group, then it will only matter come South Africa.

Except giving the ball away which would cost us against quality opposition.Honestly its the blind leading the blind when it comes to Beckham as was ever thus.Alas who can fight against 14 year old girls, his prime fanbase, they know what theyre talking about after all.

Stevie g put in some deadly free kicks in the first pass and some lovely long passes too.

I want Rooney dropped until the 'fat-boy' grows up & realises he is not God's gift to England on the playing field!
I want Rooney to be dropped because for the last 2 & a half seasons the bloke has been a liability: He is 2 stone overweight, he cannot control the ball, cannot pass accurately, cannot head it sensibly & cannot stop himself chasing every ball or opposition on the field like he's some wild alley cat (with similar zilch results)!
I want Rooney dropped because most important of all I believe England could have a more balanced side without him: He should be, like Beckham does superbly these matches, brought on 20 minutes to go when his tactically nonsensical runs will cause a defence (& not just his team-mates)problems.
As it is Rooney is a waste of space on the England international pitch (& judging from Sir Alex's recent buys, he soon will be at ManU). Don't say he scored 2 tonight! So what! A blind man could have scored the way the Az played the last 15 minutes against us.
Drop Rooney as first pick before he embarrasses everyone!
-----------------------------------------------------

What an idiotic post!

To say that Rooney can't control the ball is just utter rubbish, and to then go on and say he can't head it - well how did 1 of his goals come about tonight? A very good header!

Isn't it a good thing that Rooney chases every ball? It shows desire, something that as a Spurs fan you don't often see from your team now Keane has gone, so its understandable if this concept is a bit alien to you.

You clearly have a very clouded view of England's last 2 games, thats if you even watched them at all. Against Croatia, Rooney set up 2 goals for Theo and scored 1 himself (and was voted MOTM). Tonight he scored another 2. That really seems like a waste of space to me!

Grow up and get over the fact that you would gladly welcome Rooney into the Spurs team. Heskey and Rooney are a great combination, and if you can't see that then I don't know why you bother to call yourself a football fan.

James 6 - Not tested enough (thank goodness) but when called he was there, although should have caught Kekeyev's shot rather than parried.

Brown 7 - Good display, tackled well, linked well with Gerrard and Walcott, good cross for goal, played well. I would have him before Richards by quite a distance.

Ferdinand 8 - Very good. Provided the breakthrough like his partner Terry with an armband show and an armband goal, albeit the keeper was in no man's land. Wouldnt blame him for their goal.

Upson 6 - Average. Came out well, as well as needed, gave a scare when he was left in the corner needing Ferdinand's help then passed to James, otherwise he was on call more or less.

A Cole 7 - Would have been an '8' but for the mistake. Felt he was solid enough in the 1st despite that ball pass him that led to their effort across goal, and was solid again up until the mistake. Deserved no boos.

Gerrard 6/7 - Average to good. By his club standards, upon which he is chosen, he should be getting into the game more. One or two mis-passes to begin with but otherwise he kept things standard, a few good passes and had a decent chance on goal with a shot that fizzled wide. Needs to step up more with contributions towards goal, albeit today they were not needed.

Barry 6/7 - Same as Gerrard, did the basics, and hardly lost possession. Just didnt provide more to our attacks and pass-and-flow.

Lampard 7 - Was good overall, did what he needed to do, a standard game. Provided two assists and linked up well in attack to keep it flowing around their third.

Walcott 6/7 - Average to good. Look to be giving his marker bags of trouble with his movements and knew the fans expect him to burn all in sight which he did on occasion, but faded in the 2nd half.

Heskey 7 - Felt he was good with his efforts, strength, pace, they couldnt get him off the ball when he was on it. Unlucky not to get a goal for his efforts 2nd half, fed Defoe for the 5th, only criticism was a mis-header and offside too often.

Rooney 7 - Was quite quiet in the 1st, the whole team was as well but kept on beavering around, looking for a chink in the defence to exploit and came better in the 2nd when we scored our first, his presence led to the 2nd goal as well as our 3rd and 4th.

SWP 6 - Good runs at the defence but seemed unsettled on the left, looked predictable coming onto his right and the Kazakhstan defence ensured bodies were prepared when he did.

Beckham 7 - For how long Beckham was on for, he did good and seemed to want to go for it with the time remaining. Provided for Rooney's 2nd, only debatable point being could he do so with more time on the clock.

Defoe 7 - Someone said to me 'why put on Defoe for 5mins?', to which I said 'a lot can happen in five minutes', and it did. Good finish. Wrong move to have sold him, Spurs.

To Appsy14, re".. Rooney... if you watch England matches.. Spurs supporter... grow up.."
Well, as long as YOU know everything there is to know about football & of course as long as YOU see all there is to see on the players & matches, the rest of us needn't bother!
Of course, you'd have been just a little bit convincing if you hadn't shot your mouth off about the Club I support, my mentality etc..
You are entitled to your opinion & (believe it or not) I am entitled to mine.
Rooney was a fabulous talent: Rooney is no longer. He may get it back, but, I think you'll find there's a lot of fans (see Play Rater) who like me wonder what the hell has gone wrong with the lad over recent seasons!?
Enjoy Russia match & I only hope Rooney gets another 2 goals. Trouble is, Russia are a good team & he'll get found out by their defenders as he regularly does these days.
Nuff said.
