Why is it that the FAW insist on playing matches like Lichtenstein at the Millenium Stadium?

A team like that is never going to fill a 74000 seater stadium so what is the point? We have Ninian, the Liberty and the Racecourse wich have all hosted international games before and you will get a better atmosphere at a smaller ground because the crowd will be closer together!

When will the FAW finally realise this? They are expectin a crowd of 10000, thats alot of empty seats! Ninian and the Liberty hold 20000, a much better option, and the Racecourse a bit less, spread the games around so everyone can watch there country and we may even find some atmosphere at one of our games!

"It may be that this particular turf we have may be a bit too young and therefore it's a bit weak and fragile"

only thing thats weak and fragile is the team!

It would make sense to play the smaller nations at the club grounds and if Wales draw a major team or play one of the home unions (as I don't currently count any of the home unions as major teams) the it should be at the Millenium. Home nations matches draw large crowds and generate a great atmosphere.
As for the pitch, if you play your games in a rugby stadium you can't expect to play on a top level football pitch simple as. The WRU are the focus not the football association! If they want the big revenue which is mainly what drives football then they play big matches at millenium and have to sacrifice pitch quality, which in all honesty might suit Wales more when playing a top 5 nation such as Italy or Germany.
Smaaller games need to be at the club grounds to get the atmosphere and the quality of pitch to allow the wales team to outplay their opposition.

bellamy + some others are well over paid foul mouthed pros who play on different pitches every week so get on with it or cough up your own money and pay for a pitch of your liking { you earn enough}. before any one mentions it i know noy all the welsh team are paid silly money. i also agree spread the games about the other grounds.

i said in a similar article elsewhere, the games against the smaller teams for the next qualifiers should be split between cardiffs new ground, swansea and wrexham, with the bigger teams at the millenium. for example with this group, liechtenstein, azerbaijan and finald could go between the 3 club grounds, then russia and germany at the millenium. cant see a prob with that.

Bad pitch or not it baffles me as to why Wales play a match which attracts 15000 fans at a 70000 capacity stadium.

clingondrum - you are right about the FAW having an agreement with Millennium Stadium, but it's not an exclusivity contract (i.e. FAW aren't tied into playing EVERY match there), so FAW could play some games elsewhere.

In fact, playing elsewhere may work out cheaper for FAW, as I can imagine that some of the costs of playing at the Milliennium are fixed costs, and so don't vary depending on how many people turn up.

If FAW played some matches at other smaller grounds then they could lower their costs, get the same attendances, play on a better pitch, and get a better atmosphere! everyone wins!

Yes, but England can actually fill Wembley, or close enoguh to it, regardless of who they are playing against. As some have said here, Wales has struggle to fill the Millennium against even the best teams.

Firstly it is a rugby pitch and is looked after by ground staff who prepare the pitch for rugby to be played on it. Bellamy should be aware of this and should be grateful, that the arrangement with the WRU has been made, the soccer can not fill the ground anyway. The WFA should look at moving all their games to the Bluebirds new ground where the B”lose” will be saying the same things as Bellamy has said as the pitch will be prepared by ground staff to play soccer on. The Liberty ground staff seems to be able to please the soccer team and the rugby team?
