India v Australia day three

International Tests
comment on the article

This will be the thread where you can discuss events on day three of the Test in Bangalore.

My view is that although either team can still win it, a draw is emerging as an early favourite.

Seeing how little response Harbhajan and Kumble got out of this surface I cannot see Cam White and Michael Clarke taking bags of wickets on Saturday. With that in mind, there should be little excuse for India not to get up close to Australia's total (I reckon they might bat a bit more positively than the Aussies, especially if Viru Sehwag stays in!)

This thread will be promoted within our live text commentary, starting on the whistle at 0500 BST tomorrow for those of you who (in the UK) don't want a Saturday lie-in. 606 opens as usual at 0900 BST (0800 GMT/1330 Indian time)

313/8 -stumps day 3

Good counter attack by tail , if last 2 wkts can stick around for hr tomorrow morning then it will be difficult for Aussies to force result.

Poor captaincy by Ponting and acres of tripe from the Oz attack. A draw for sure I would have thought.

And for the very last time, are we not now ready for a major review of the part that umpires play, and the manner in which they do so?

I am neither Australian nor Indian, but once again the last 3 days have thrown up some quantifiably disgraceful decisions with India being on the receiving end of the worst ones.

Hawkeye and co can deal wit all these decisions far better than the current crop of weirdos and games will turn out - unchallenged - the way they they were meant to.

tendulkarisgod is still blaming everyone but the Indian batsmen for India not already being ahead of Australia. Same old record, same old song, same old nonsense.

Only 1 major reason why India is in this position - the captaincy.

While Kumble was unusally reactive - Ponting was usually proactive. The way he starved Laxman of runs and increased his anxiety by placing fielders at his favorite scoring spots sums it all.

Being an Indian fan, it was so depressing to see familiar old mistakes from an Indian captain. He can learn hugely by even looking at today's replay video as to how to captain.

I still think it will be a draw. Even if they clean up quick, the Ozzies won't have enough time to build anything like a 'safe score' and still leave them enough time to bowl out India. They don't have a strike spin bowler for a last day crumbler.
