Camp can go - and Cerny's under threat

Championship QPR
comment on the article

Lee Camp has been told he can leave QPR if another club come in for him.

Rangers recently made Camp available for a loan move but are now ready to offload him and have started the search for another keeper.

And Radek Cerny, who has kept him out this season, could also find himself out of the picture in the near future.

Cerny has looked unconvincing at times and Rangers are eyeing a possible alternative as first-choice keeper, not merely another back-up option to replace Camp.

The writing was on the wall for Camp when he continued to be overlooked despite some shaky performances by Cerny.

But there is a strong possibility that neither man will be in the Rangers side during the second half of the season, with a number of other keepers now being looked at.

One player very much in contention for a midfield place is recent signing Damiano Tommasi.

He is likely to feature in another reserve game next week and is being lined up to play at least some part against Nottingham Forest after the international break.

There are a few strange decisions being made at the moment at LR. Not sure exactly where it will all lead!!

Hi, all. This is number8buser.Ive had to re jig my log in as i have been locked out for 24 hours.

What are the mods up 2?

Lee camp.

What a disgrace the way he has been treated.

Who is in charge of our transfers cos it certainly aint Dowie.

Cerney is prob the worst keeper i have seen at Rangers in 15 years.

But hei, this is what happens when people who know nothing about football are arogant enough to think they know better!

but,oh yea these people saved us so it does not matter how the heart is being ripped out of our club!!!
They saved us,thats all i keep hearing.

So we will tolerate everything!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up David. From previous experience, should be looking to Europe, esp Italy, for a new goalie?

Just to register my sadness at the way Camp is (apparently) being treated BUT we must acknowledge that we have scant information to come to any conclusions really.

I would give him a run out myself.

Take everything you read with a pinch of salt.

At the Leeds away game in Feb '07 I happened to be sitting in front of two of Lee Camp's best mates. When I commented to my companion that I thought he would be the difference between us staying up or going down they were only too happy to hear that and lean forward to tell me how happy they were and he was at the reception he always received from QPR and our fans. My immediate response was to enquire whether or not, in the event that we stayed up and could meet Derby's price, Lee would consider moving permanently. Their answer was that it all depended on Derby and whether or not they went up. Not only did he have a clause in his new contract that stipulated a pay rise should the Rams have achieved promotion, they told me it would be very hard to turn down the opportunity of sitting on the bench in the Premier League, knowing that at some point he'd likely get a chance to impress.

We all know how it turned out though, and it seemed by the end of last season his choice was vindicated. QPR looked good, and with new backing, headed for the Premier League within the next 2 years - something that wasn't at all certain when he turned his back on the Premier League and came to struggling little Rangers as an absolute hero and certain no.1.

But once again he finds himself down the pecking order at a club no doubt on the move to bigger and better things (eventually lads, eventually). Will he make that choice again if a club without promotion prospects come in for him, or will he keep working and hopefully seize any opportunity he gets to take back his starting jersey and potentially become a Premier League keeper with a club where he is without doubt largely revered?
Would we sell our only 'back up' keeper (it shouldn't be that way) to one of our genuine rivals? And would a Premier League team come in for him?

Personally, although I loved him for coming to Loftus Road, I think he would certainly have got a good crack at the Premier League had he stayed with Derby, such was their plight. Bywater soon disappeared and Carroll made some typically woeful mistakes. Whether Camp would have taken that opportunity is up for debate, but he proved from Jan - May '07 that he was up for a relegation fight.

I think he'll learn the lessons from that and stay and fight Cerny for the jersey - there are several thousand people at our club that know he is up to the task, even if Dowie and Flowers currently don't.

Good luck to him whatever his choice is though, he's an absolute hero twice over in my eyes.

Nicely put RBlock. As for the pinch of salt though, I doubt the Beeb's David M would put his name to an article like this without solid evidence...

Whilst undoubtedly he has the talent to become a great keeper, he is let down by his attitude. From what i have read elsewhere he expects to have the number 1 shirt, and not to fight for his place. No player has an automatic right to play. The only thing he should have done is say to Dowie well i will knuckle down and prove you wrong, but he doesnt seem prepared to do that. If that is his attitude, even for all he has done in the past, he should be shown the door.

Have got confimation of the Camp thing now. Will write it up when I get a sec.

RTID, they're initially looking here but it's often the case that prices are too high and it's cheaper to get someone infrom abroad.

Number8, sorry if you've been having problems again.

The club is becoming a huge joke now!

Yes they saved the club financially but they are doing a good job of ruining the team!

The fact we were offered Man U tickets at £25 but OUR owners decided to:

1. Charge £40
2. Only allow sales through TicketMaster which has added ANOTHER £7.50 to the cost

How are they helping the fans then? That is a blatent rip off and should be investigated by the league.

Not giving us an option of where to buy tickets is a step to far don't you think?

OH but they SAVED the club

Story now up in full on Beeb QPR page. The article implies Camp has pushed for first team football - a good move - and Paladini can't offer him that and is happy for him to go. No mention of the Cerny sub-plot as yet though.

Surely Paladini can't be saying this without having already got another keeper up his sleeve lined up and ready to go????????

This is very dissapointing. I still cannot see for the life of me why Cerny is being picked ahead of Lee Camp, I know which one I'd rather see go!
