Sorry should have made it clearer. This is the bit I am claiming to be wrong

"Chelsea paid United money to get him out of that as he had changed his mind."

What I find promising is that Chelsea and Lyn seem to be working together to resolve this dispute. We have to remember that the current FC Lyn management are completely different to the ones in charge at the time. Maybe Lyn are thinking that if they reveal all of the details of what actually happened including details of the meetings they had with the various representatives of all three clubs, the player and his agents they might be able to show that they are not the only ones at fault in this affair.

It would be nice to think that sometime we may finally have a definitive statement of the circumstances that surrounded this Norwegian Saga.

JFDI, Let me get this straight are you denying Chelsea paid to get him out of the deal or that Mikel signed for United then changed his mind?

Also, why on earth did Chelsea's £12 million, end up at United if this wasnt the case?

If it wasnt for Chelsea to get Mikel out of the contract he had signed with United, as you claim, then was it to withdraw the complaint to Fifa that could have landed Chelsea a transfer embargo?

Cant think of any other reason than those two, why Chelsea would cough up the £12 million pounds that they paid.

Plus it wasnt a three way tug it was a two way tug Lynn and United against Chelsea and some agents.

I am not denying anything what I am syaing is that everything that has hapened since Mikel signed for United is for a reason. I can't say more than that, I hae and my posts have been removed.

In my earlier posts I have said that I do not believe United have done anything wrong (I think it is safe enough to say that).

I can only tell ou I have watched this very closely from the start, not just the last 5 minutes. My views are based on many reports over the last 4 years.

The thing is, if you read the published extracts of Mikel's and Shittu's statement given to British police for use in the Norwegian courts (look around on the web and you will find it), it seems that the agent's services were dispensed with and pressure was applied by Lyn on Mikel to sign the contract. They wanted the money.

I suspect, first and foremost, Chelsea paid the money because they deemed the player was worth at least what they paid. Given that FIFA had decided that the player should be returned to Norway and he had spent a whole year being wasted there, I don't see what else Chelsea could do.

Hopefully what happened will now be published and we can make a judgement based on the facts rather than prejudice.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear,
I've only just come across this blog which seems to be burning away quite nicely. As a neutral who supports neither Man U or Chelsea yet follows football events closely I'd basically say "What goes round, comes round". Obi Mikel and Chelsea (at that time) were made for each other, both being greedy, over-rated and having rather large unhealthy ego's. Obi Mikel, from what I remember, signed a contract with Utd and then thought he could push the boat out just that little bit further and get a better financial deal with Chelsea. "Greed" is the word that comes to mind here. After all, as a footballer, why would you not be happy with a deal and a contract with Utd - the team that has won so much over the last decade or so and definitely more than Chelsea?
Chelsea, with Abranovich, the man who will bankroll them at almost any cost so as to be associated with a piece of serious silverware (EPL or European cup) then decided if Chelsea didn’t have the edge over Utd in attracting players then they certainly did in the financial ring and so they gate crashed a deal that to any other club, was off limits.
So I don’t think that there will be many Man U or neutral football followers out there that will be crying into their coffee today for Chelsea. As I said, what goes round, comes round. If you stick your nose into things that you shouldn’t then eventually you’ll get it bitten off!
Utd must be laughing all the way to the bank today as their main rivals, who tried to get one over them, have ended up with egg on their face and more so, a player who just hasn’t performed to the levels that the price tag would have implied.
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear…………….

mackey013, why would anyone who obviously knows nothing of any of this business bother to try and make comments. Where do I start?

Mikel was placed by Chelsea at Lyn, with an agreement with the player and agent to move to Chelsea. Anderson saw an opportunity to make some money for Lyn, but it required Mikel to be in contract with Lyn. Mikel wasn't, so Anderson forged a player contract and a registration document. This has been proven in a court of law in Norway. However, Anderson also had to get Mikel to sign a contract with Man Utd. So, he cut off Mikel's contact with his agent and threatened Mikel (according to Mikel's testimony). The contract with Man Utd was signed under duress without adequate player representation.

Mikel absconded to London with his agent at the first opportunity. All hell broke loose. Man Utd accused us of "kidnapping" him. FIFA ruled that everything should revert to the original state and that he should go back to Lyn which he did and where he was on the sidelines for a year.

None of this has anything to do with money. Mikel has never had an inflated ego. However, Mikel is now really starting to show his value. In a few years he will become one of if not the best DM in the prem.

However, since the agreement with Man Utd has now been legally proved to be based on a forged contract we have every right to recover what we can of the money.
