Sad day for Forrester

Well the poor guy has had to retire.

I always felt that he could have made a huge impact on English rugby with his amazing hands and speed for a back row. Someone like him alongside someone of Dallaglio, Haskell or Ward-Smith's size would have been great. Sadly we'll just have to cherish the moments of brilliance we got to see from him for Gloucester and occasionally for England.

Best of luck for the future James!

Unlucky Jango; the knee injury was extreme to say the least.

Good luck in what ever you choose to do next; coaching at Glos hopefully.

You've had a great career James.

Scoring a try in the Powergen Cup Final
Scoring in the European Challenge Final

Good memories Jango !!

Such a shame to see his career end so early, was fortunate enough to watch him play on quite a few occasions and if injury didnt plague him for the last few seasons he would have had a fantastic England career.

Very Sad for him and huge loss for the game. The prototype for the modern, mobile english back row.

Remember watching him live at quins 4 years ago or so: quins had a line out near the half way which gets disrupted and the ball goes to ground near the touch line. Forrester from near back of line out picks up the loose ball before anyone else can get to it, turns, box kicks the ball to within 5 metres of the Quins try line, chases and is only narrow beaten buy the quins defence but still forces a penalty.

Unbelievable, remember thinking where the did that come from and when is he going to play for England?!

Great skills and vision.

A wonderfully talented player - such a shame but not that unexpected considering how long he was out.

To d1nkyp00's list of favourite memories, add the try he scored against Saracens in the Cup a week after the Munster debacle in 2003, driving over from the base of the scrum carrying three defenders on his back.

Not to mention two hat-tricks away to Bristol.

All the best for the future Django!!

Wonderful talent, sad to see you go James, thanks for the memories. I wish you'd had the opportunity to add to your caps and those memories.

What a player. Back row, centre, first class wherever. Well, perhaps not at scrum half.

I cherish one of his tries against Newcastle where he'd moved to centre after a spat of injuries in the same game, and scored two tries, in one of them going through the defences of Wilkinson (Eng), Mayerhofler (All Black) and Burke (Aus).

If the England set-up weren't so obsessed with big lumpy forwards, he'd have had more games. Had he been a New Zealander I reckon the Bird Man would have played many more internationals.
