Twenty20 West Indies

Following a trans-Atlantic telephone conversation between Allen Stanford and the boss of Digicel's Irish parent company, the Stanford Super Series is back on....

content-uk.cricinfo.com/stan...

That was quick! The reports of the Super Series being 'in doubt' were greatly exaggerated....

I wonder what the terms of the agreement were. And I wonder who will win it. And who will win the secondary clash between Middlesex and Trinidad? This match takes place on Monday night, and quite a bit of money is up for grabs!

The Canadians visited Trinidad for a warm-up match, but it was rained out. And KP says he'll donate some of his winnings to charity!

But can the Middlesex players get over their hang-ups about the lights?

Trinidad showed great character to win. From 1-2 and then the two wickets in Malan's first over, when they looked dead and buried they did very well to make scoring look easy for the first time all week. Middlesex though, were dreadful under pressure. In contrast, when Middlesex started to hit out at the end of their innings, Trinidad kept it together and never lost control.

It's not often that I have heard commentators laugh because a side's efforts in the field have been so bad.

I wonder if Ravi Rampaul will make it back into the West Indies side. He looked superb last night.

I thought Rampaul has done enough to earn a recall - Darren Powell, watch out!

and IMHO, Ramdin is the best keeper/batsman in the region. It's a pity he's lost his place in the side. He should be back soon, I'd think.

But I was also impressed with the talent displayed by the younger Bravo brother. It shouldn't be long before Darren is pushing for a place in the WI team....

All round it was a great effort by Trinidad. It also sends a warning to England that the Stanford Superstars may not be quite so easy to beat as people thought (England are strong favourites, but Middlesex were last night too).

What was impressive was the tactical nous that Darren Ganga showed. Spinner after spinner appeared. He gave a leggie the new ball. The bowling and fielding was tight and didn't give anything away. He really did not miss a trick. And when Middlesex threatened to post something close to 130, Ravi Rampaul came back and blew the lower order away.

The Trinidad team has the experience of playing in the conditions many tiems before. They are are well drilled as a team and Darren Ganga is an inspirational leader, he commands the team's respect and therefore is able to get the best out of them. There are no superstars in this team but they all play as a team. England will have a fight on their hands. I think that Perkins and Simmons are due for a big one.

Can someone tell me why Allen Stanford is SIR Allen Stanford. He is described as a Texan millionaire not British. So how did he get his knighthood and what for?

The Antiguan government also knights those who've been outstanding in their country's service....

Hence, Viv Richards was knighted by the Antiguan government, as well as Allen Stanford.

Hey Shivfan,

You were right about T&T pushing England right to the limit. Winning by one run couldn't possibly get any closer. Another great cameo by Ramdin, just as he did against Middlesex. Also good to see Rampaul back to full fitness.

I was greatly encouraged by the performance of Trinidad in this tournament!

They played as a unit, Ganga was very pro-active as a captain, and they fielded very well - taking high catches as well!

I also have high hopes for Darren Bravo, who looks like a talented left-handed batsman in the making....
