India - Australia

comment on the article

Morning everyone,

606 is up and running again - and it's open for business for your comments from 0900 BST (= UK time) each day.

My esteemed colleague Pranav Soneji has been bringing you live text coverage of day one of the first Test between India and Australia since the early hours - as you can see here:

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cri...

Anyway, after losing Hayden in the first over, the Aussies have dug in well - but how do you think the Test will pan out? Will India's veterans triumph over an Australian team with a few inexperienced players, particulary in their bowling attack?

It's a much-anticipated series - do get involved and join the debate.

That is true shivfan, i do think though that if the openers can post a big start then the confidence will be high enough to inspire the middle order on as well.

Re 0549 :
Nice try Pete, but I hear the Indian fans are still sticking to cliches like "East or West, India is the best".

11 runs off that last johnson over, India keeping the run rate around 4 an over.

The inital new ball attack has failed to impose on the India openers.Sehwag is looking dangerous and as we know he will batter the bowlers and could thrash a quick triple hundred.

IF India can get 100 or 150 beyong the Aussie total by close of play tomorrow then a wearing day 4 pitch could favour the Indian spinners.

Its a funny wicket though and the Aussies are bowling about 1 maybe 2 metres too short.

Lees opening spell was disappointing.

India's only hope is to get somewhere near the Aussie score, then hope the wicket shows more cracks than a builders convention. Can't expect Zaheer & Sharma to bowl them out cheaply in the 2nd innings. And why only give Shewag a few overs he turned it more than anyone.

This will be a tight last 10 overs, Should India go on to make 100+ without loss then the momentum will be with them but should the Aussies take 1 or 2 quick wickets the momentum will be with them.
I feel that this last 10 overs may be crucial to the oucome of the match.
That said, India may well want to come off with this drizzel.

Fascinating session.India batted very positively and counter attacked well.Sehwag is the key to the Indians winning.IF he can bat until tea tomorrow supported by the rest of the batters they could be close to the Aussies total.

I agree with Eirebilly...the first hour tomorrow will be crucial and the die will be caste by lnchtime.
200-0 at lunch would represent a good platform to "crack on". 150 -4 at lunch and its a different dynamic.
