Ferrari scrap the Traffic Lights

Formula One

it may be a bit late in the day but Ferrari have finally realised that the 'traffic light' release system is not reliable so they're scrapping it for the final three races.
One thing it should do is to give the drivers a bit more confidence when it comes to the pit stops.

Could the re-fuelling hose not have an attachment which keeps the car in 'neutral' until it's out or even bleeps in the drivers' helmet when it's clear?

Sure it is possible and I'm pretty sure this is what Ferrari was using. It didn't work out some how and that was the reason for Massas accident. It should be a some technical problem which caused the green light before the hose was released and they can't fix it until the next race. That's why they go back to lollipop system. If it was really a human mistake as they explained, then what is the point to go to the lollipop system. The same man can make the same mistake. The only reason for that can be that the light system has some problem and I suppose it is connected with the fuel hose.

Ha ha! This has been my adopted country for the last, almost, ten years and anyone familiar with traffic lights over here will know that the point of them is purely decorative. It's kind of ironic that Ferrari should have installed their own pits traffic light system and it should be the cause of their downfall. Very funny.

I assume you mean all the other drivers rather than the Ferrari drivers!

Its good to see Ferrari acknolaging they have a pitt stop problem. Hopefully we will not see any more near BIG pitt stop crashes like we have twice in recent months. It may also help Massa and Raikonen to gain a few extra points instead of losing them when they make a silly pitt stop error. Any Opinions?

whats amazing here is the very fact that we are talking so many fractions of a second... grab it wherever you can.

Reverting to the old style is a better way to go for any team, cause only the mechanic knows when to release the car , using the lighting system can create problems, to switch from green to red can take a few more seconds that than the lollipop system , so i think ferrari is making a good decision. Good luck in the next three races.I am predicting massa will win the championship this season

Ferrari should be fined for using a system that is so obviously dangerous. It was lucky it was just the race they lost - they could have been responsible for the death of a mechanic or other driver.

First, in Valencia, they released Massa into Sutil.
Then, in Singapore, they released Massa into Sutil.

Perhaps if they'd been properly penalized for the first incident, they would have dropped the system before Singapore.

On a side issue, what do Ferrari have against Adrian Sutil? They knocked him off the track at Monaco too ...
