Icelandic Government Takeover Landsbanki

Premier League West Ham United
comment on the article

For those of you in the know, Landsbanki is Björgólfur Gudmundsson's main business interest.

We could well see a change of ownership of West Ham off the back of this. Lets hope that the rumours that Anil Ambani is interested in buying the club are true.

Spurs have two points

A manager who is a dead duck.

Have bought rubbish players for a fortune who are very over rated i.e.Bent and Bentley (if I was them I would stay away from BENT players)

But still the papers and talk is on West Ham.

It does not matter if we do not buy any one in january as by then the team will be used to the ways of Zola and Clarke and hopefully still in the top half of the table as we have a lot of class players.

Teams like Everton (who have clearly got no cash) and the spuds who face disaster should be attracting much more attention from the media but then again I suppose it is down to who the reporters support as they have such biased views.

Lets face it, it was hardly a shock even before the latest media frenzy. We didn't exactly splash out in the summer, our squad is already too big anyway. If we can get the players that we already have fit, then no problem.
Should have flogged sicknote, I mean Ashton in the summer, Spurs would have bought him!

10th position in 2007/08
15th position in 2006/07 - avoiding relegation on the last day.
Weren't even in the Premierleague in 2005/06.

And you're talking about being in the top half of the table in the past 12 months when I'm talking about the last 4 years. Dumbf***

-----------------------------------------------

Sorry you've lost me here. We can agree last season. Season beforehand; yes, we were near/on the bottom from the end of Sept/early Oct til the last day. Granted.

Year before that though we finished a comfortable 9th. And got to the Cup Final.

Year before was 6th in the Championship.

Either way, 4 years of survival, really equates to 8 months.

Ditto name calling.

the price of his stocks have taken a hammering and are down 70-80% from Jan when he launched a major IPO...he may be rich but not like Abromavich with tons of cash...his money is stuck in fast depreciating stocks...although he was worth 40 billion USD at one point

Another demonstration of how poor the BBC are at reporting news. If you read the actual statements released by the club, Zola /DOES/ have money to spend. The owner pumped a large amount into the transfer kitty (around £40m I believe) of which quite a bit is still there.

-------------------------

While I will agree the BBC keeps posting old quotes, today it is about Duxbury / Zola assurances over the Jan Window which were made 3-4 weeks ago, before the Iceman lost out on XL and his bank stake. Common sense should tell you he isn't going to plough any more in for the meantime and really why should he? he has always stated that they want this "business" to be self substainable. Also listen to the audio of the vice-chairman, he clearly states that no more money will be coming in for now, and sales will have to generate revenue. Many Hammers on here have complained that the club doesn't come out and state it's intentions, well they have now, so the expectation is set and Zola gets his wish to improve the current squad which he stated he wanted to do from the very begining.

End of.

Really? Not sure where you got that information from? His net worth was around 1.1 Billion USD as of Forbest 2008.

At this rate all the prem teams will be owned by oversea companies (and I mean business companies!). It will only be a short step then to moving the teams to more profitable locations (ala American gridiron) and we will have a lot more Wimbledon/Milton Keynes situations. Heaven forbid! The game doesn't need more money in it, it needs to distribute it better - cut the cost for fans and stop paying players stupid money! thats why I like non-league footie - at least they still have a family atmosphere about them.

Silverdale your point is Westham reap what they sew? The Tevez affair and the rules Westham broke is an issue to be resolved between Westham and the EPL. We are fined 5 million pound. A ruling against Westham given by the EPL which was ratified by all the clubs of the EPL signing up to. Five million pound or a points deduction.

When given, SUFC were not complaining because they were 12 points clear of Westham and ten points clear of the drop. They even beat us at the lane with Tevez on the pitch. If SUFC are not happy the decision they should take the matter up with the EPL? Oh wait, they did and failed. They should take it to the high court? Oh wait, they did and failed.

SUFC were relegated because their form was bad. Warnock walked and with the guts of the team the next season with Robson they failed to even make the play offs.

This latest tribunal's decision is nothing but a joke and an effort to cover up the smell of one big dead rat. How one player (one player) can make a difference and overshadow the efforts of the other ten players on the pitch and can be adjudged to have had an unfair advantage over SUFC when they beat him (Tevez) with Westham on the pitch (and no that's not a typo).

I hear figures of 30 million being bantered about? Westham's will argue SUeFC got a parachute payment. They will no doubt argue how Tevez, the man in the midst of all of this is still elligible to play in the EPL if his commercial rights are still owned KJ? Given he is 'on loan' from Westham to Man U. They will no doubt argue that Chelsea now have a right to sue Man U for Tevez's influence on Man U winning the league and Champions league. Which is utter nonsense anyway

Don't forget, Westham were punished for witholding documentation that indicated both Argentinian players had their commercial rights owned by a third party. The EPL cleared him to play (like he is clear to play at Man U now).
How is KJ allowed operate as an agent currently in the EPL? How is he allowed be a 'transfer' consultant to Westham currently? Howcome Man U will pay him 30 million pound at the end of the season to fully sign him as their own player? and if he's on loan from WH to Man U how come we're not getting the money?

Doesn't any of this strike you as just a little odd? Rather than ranting and raving about Westham cheating and reaping what they sew? Stand back and take a long hard look at it mate?

SUeFC's latest bid is based on greed and nothing else. A Whiplash becuase they were hit from behind by Westham on the last day. It must have hurt losing that big points deficit to find themselves in a relegation battle losing to a team who had not one in their last nine and with home advantage? With an ex player scoring the winner? Sour grapes.

one thing that scares me is the talk about having to sell 8 senior players. we have had a great start this season and all this talk about going into adminsitrationa nd loosing points, new ownership, selling players can't be good for the team and i hope we don't start messing up on the pitch.
