How do you explain the less than power jabs Lazcano hit Ricky with and Ricky was holding on for life, he is no where near the Ricky of old infact the signs have been there since Kostya, Ricky negotiated his way to Floyd, I'm not so sure the hunger is there anymore he's even started mentioning the dreaded retirement word.

Hatton got caught by JL because he was constantly looking to KO him. He didn't at all fight with his head, he completely played to the crowd and imo opinion got his distance all wrong so whilst he was catching him good shots they were not KO shots. Also some credit please to JL who is no mug. I'm sure the Hatton that fights PM will have a better plan than to just try and bulldoze as he did with JL.

As for him saying he'll retire, of course he will but these guys are also selling themselves also, he's saying he is near the end because he wants to cement a big fight before he goes, and he needs the fans & promoters crying out for Hatton vs 'whoever' hbefore he retires', look at calzaghe he's been retiring for 2 yrs now !

Why is Hatton considering taking on JMM (who's barely moved out of super-feather) when there are still some decent fights at LWW? There are certainly still fights at LW for Marquez too.

How I think their next two fights should go:

Hatton vs Maliganggi then Hatton vs Ngoudjo

JMM vs Campbell then JMM vs Pacman III (abandoning this ridiculous De La Hoya fight)


Also, if Che's story is true then the IBF is going down the pan. They let Paulie keep his belt after the Ngoudjo farce but take it off him for not paying them to defend it? Lunacy.

Hopefully this will be the start of the alphabet revolt. They are a bunch of scam merchants. With the WBC charging sanction fees for non-title fights, the WBA for their Super Champion scam, the IBF for this ridiculousness and the WBO for being in existance, I say to all boxers: ditch the alphabet títs.

Rickys performance against lascano wasn't brillinat but it was an obvious win ! He showed his stamina to be Ok. He needs to box his way in more jab more and throw combinations aswell as moving his head. He can do that but as someone else as said he played to the crowd and probably because of his last fight was fighting to much with his heart and not enough with his head! He knows that himself thats why he as brought in mayweather.
PM carn't hurt Ricky so I don't see him being able to discourage Ricky coming forward. Points win for Ricky or a stoppage from body shots !

Hatton has not really been consistant for more than 2 fights throughout his career, even though he has won 44 of 45! He has put in some stinkers, only to put in a great performance next time. I reckon he's due a good one against the magic man and should win by either a clear UD or KO. With regards to JMM, this would be a classic, though I think Hatton's extra side should just see him through.

the current problem with boxing is that champions only want to fight champions, nobody is bothered about defending the belt to the rightful No.1 contender, IBF requested the fee because they had a mandatory fighter in place for PM (instead of what will be the hatton fight) and wanted a contract that the RH vs PM fight was to fight the no.1 contender for the belt, neither want to because it will not make them enough money so PM has given up the belt.
RH should beat PM and then go on to fight the ODH vs MP fight and has said he wants PBF again for another beating, but will more likely look at any of the big name lightweights looking to move up a weight.

I'm interested to see what Mayweather snr can do with Hatton if anything.
Hatton has always had boxing ability. Somewhere along the way he has neglected it for out and out pressure fighting and on some occasions fighting with his face.
If he jumps into the ring against pauly and reverts back to his all out pressure style he's going to come unstuck.
If snr can somehow slow him down and give him a more circumspect approach and get him thowing more combos, then we may see a more mature fighter.
If McGirt can add a bit more onto Thunder's career then it's possible for Mayweather to get Hatton boxing better. Especially as I'm pretty certain that Hatton does possess some natural ability.
