Celtic Match Report

Scottish Premier Celtic

Good game, played at a decent pace from start to finish. Not a quick pace mind you but the ball was always on the move on the deck. I dont think Big Jan is anything serious, it looked it when he was down but he walked off the pitch. Match Ratings:

Boruc - 8
He only had two things to do, the first in the first half when he ran out and cleared the ball when the Hamilton guy was going through and the penalty. Saved both and that was that.

Wilson - 7
Got forward well and defended well with nothing spectacular in either thing. Linked well with McGeady on the right when usually they play on the left which was a pleasant change.

Caldwell - 7
He's playing well and long may it continue. Touch of the Roy Aitkens about him they're starting to say. Two slack passes in teh first 10 minutes but sound thereafter. Always looking to carry the ball out the half and pick a pass.

McManus - 7
Solid game, wee venture forward when he tried to curl a shot in was about teh only time he had to do anything.

Robson - 9
Absolutley immense at left-back. Won every tackle and header and rampaged down the left at every oppertunity. Should stay there for a few games at least just incase this was a one off. Linked greatly with Naka.

McGeady - 8
Always looking for the ball and went past whoever he wanted whenever he wanted, set up two goals, scored one and generally had Hamilton in a panic.

Brown - 7
Good form continued, he and Crosas controlled the middle of the park and had the Hamilton guys chasing shadows in there. Got about the pitch as usual and was solid on the ball.

Crosas - 8
Good again from the youngster, I nearly had a heart attack when he misplaced a pass only for him to then point that Hamilton had a player down. Sat in behind Brown and mopped up, spreading passes about, intercepted about 4 or 5 balls off Hamilton and on a couple occasions went on a run but never recieved the pass.

Nakamura - 8
Had an excellent game on the left, he and Robson linked brilliantly, scored, set one up and was always looking to get on the ball and didn't lose it once.

McDonald - 6
Had a slow start but a good second half, the ball stuck to him most of the day but sometimes he over done it when holding the ball but scored a good goal probably by holding on to it too long so you cant say anything. Quiet to start off with but a good second half.

Samaras - 7
He waltzes about the pitch like a King, great off the ball movement and just as great on the ball. Wasn't as menacing as we've seen him but another goal and was linking things up.

Maloney did well when he came on to set up McGeady and caused problems for them. Vennegoor didn't get to do anything and the game was over when O'Dea came on although he looked good.

We were comfortable throughout and that's what was so good about it, we hardly ever came out of first gear and passed it about for fun, attacking passing into the bargain. I don't think I ever seen the defenders knock it across and back once today because Crosas was always wanting it and then he was taking it forward and Wilson and Robson were looking to get forward.

Hamilton -
They looked ok, they were ok on the ball despite not doing much. They were probably caught cold not knowing how good we were. McCarthy in the middle who I kept an eye on looked quick and strong but didn't really do anything, neither did McArthur who missed the penalty on his birthday, he is a Rangers man who was worried about his mates who are Celtic fans giving him a ribbing he'll have to suffer now.

wot was scott mcdonald thinking of lifting up his shirt after his goal, all he did was prove his critics right lol. he revealed a rather rotund belly with love handles. probably should have avoided the kebabs for a few weeks before that scott!

i thought crosas was tremendous, essentially running the game. calm, collected, and a tremendous passer of the ball. i just hope we can keep him! robson at left back makes so much sense i'm surprised strachan actually thought of it.

kudos also to naka and mcgeady, mcgeady in particular looks like the spell on the sidelines has done him the power of good.

Crosas was definitely MOTM and for once agreed with the award. Not just quality of passing but also covered for the Keystone Cops at the back. Dont agree with comments about Brown. Once again he gave the ball away far too often

I thought that everyone played well today. There seemed to be a renewed confidence in the way Celtic played.Think that Strachan is seeing the potential of his players and giving them more opportunities to prove themselves.I wouldn't count them out of Europe either.

To McKeeRFc
You are unfair to Hamilton, and dont give them respect
What Planet are you from?
Hamilton have already beaten ,Dundee United,Aberdeen,Inverness Caley,Motherwell,,and defeated by the odd goal, until defeats by Falkirk and Celtic, and before Celtic beat them, were 6th in SPL,so 6th best team in Scotland
I will keep you in mind when they take a point or more from Rangers
They will also stay in SPL and wont be relageted

I thought we were excellent on Saturday

first 20 mins were a bit lethargic which was understandable given Tuesday's efforts but after that it was one way traffic and could've been double figures. Granted Hamilton weren't up to much but it was a potential Banana skin (look at Gers yesterday) which was well avoided.

The double save was the highlight for me, I think we cheered that more than all the goals put together
