TeaTimeAtHarrods (U9112991) posted Oct 3, 2008 Whilst Scholes is still at least contributing to Man Utd's fortunes,Fletcher must think he is the luckiest man in football being surrounded by such talent and thus he continues to get away with some of the most astoundingly poor and clumsy - he even makes Wes Brown look coordinated and flamboyant. The only reason he has been offered a new contract must be because he is Scottish-there cannot be any other plausible motive for Sir Alex to pay a man to perform with the grace of dead porpoise and the tactical aplomb of a British Rail Platform announcer.

candidlyspeaking (U3200718) posted Oct 3, 2008 I reckon he can go to 38/9 years Just think what Teddy Sheringham achieved as a striker.

Solsec (U8066300) posted Oct 3, 2008 Scholes' game has never been based on pace or physical shapness, but rather mental nouse and reading the game. If a tortoise drops a yard of pace you wont notice it too much. Scholes mental sharpness should be there for a while yet. yeah, hes got what it takes.

amarezero (U8148695) posted Oct 6, 2008 The fact is that, like Sheringham, Larsson, Solskjaer and other such players, Scholes has shelf life because his strengths don't lie in his speed or reactions. He covers a relatively small area of the pitch; he makes intelligent, conservative movements and insightful passes. Paul is predominantly technique over power. Combine this with the reduced workload (international retirement) and he can carry on playing Premier League 'til 2010.

LosCheDevils (U13738325) posted Dec 12, 2008 I´d be happy to see paul scholes in a utd shirt when the guy´s 50. probably the most underrated player in the history of the game it´s such a shame he retired from England so early, but then it´s easy to understand his decision. just to remind everyone paul scholes played euro 2004 on the left side of midfield.. yes, the most gifted english player since bobby charlton was shoved out on the left to compensate for a midfield pairing of steven gerrard and frank lampard. now i dont care if you wear chelsea pyjamas or have a liverpool bedspread there is simply no denying that gerrard and lampard don´t even come close to the quality of scholes, and i´m sure if you ask some undisputed legends of the modern game.. Zidane, Ronaldinho, Bergkamp, Maldini etc they would consider him their equal Comment on this article
