The Way I See it

Premier League Everton

Obviously there are a lot of people gonna doubt Moyes now and have been calling for his head especially for the fact he has'nt signed his contract. However the reason he has'nt signed his contract as far as i'm aware is down to the fact he wants reassurances that the farce he endured during this pre-season does'nt happen so easily again. He wants assurances on a minimum yearly budget for transfers etc, in other words is'nt he fighting for exactly what all us fans want as well. He could have signed his nice new contract weeks ago and been a quarter of a million quid richer already, however he's prepared to dig in and fight for his and our corner on certain issues.

One thing i will say and i'm not pro or anti Moyes is that the man will always have my respect for what he's done to restore our club from the total shambles when he took over. I will not resort to slaughtering the man however bad results make me feel and will respect his decision whatever the final outcome of his contract talks.

I have still got faith in the manager he's obviously got a massive job to rebuild the players confidence after the last week but i honestly believe he is capable of doing it given the chance and i'll be there on Sunday cheering the lads on to hopefully start the comeback.

No matter how bad it ever become i can still console myself with the fact that i'm not a RS and never could be!!

Bluenose-the club is still a shambles built around a crumbling stadium. Have you checked the silverware recently?Moyes is uninspiring and tactically inept with long ball hoofs still the preferred method of attack (er,and defense). He can't seem to control vindictive hooligans like Cahill from resorting to bashing the opposition rather than playing the ball.I cannot see what 15 million pounds buys here.A mumbling Scot who looks like he wants to be elsewhere.Everton deserve better value for their money.

Yes teatime but he gets the best out of his players , ordinary players! As for silverware not many teams outside the top 4 have any! How much money do these teams have at their deposal ! exactly ! I never see Chelsea playing free flowing football but who cares when they walk away with 3 points (and the premiership generally)!

Has anyone else noticed that teams that finish fifth find it difficult to repeat their success the following year? It would stand to reason that a team that remains largely unchanged should maintain at least some of that momentum into the next season.
Everton's showing last season has turned them into this season's Icarus: fly to close to the Sun of the 'Big 4'.Witness other teams that have suffered a similar fate.
Is this due to a feeling of helplessness on the part of the team as they hit a perceived barrier of finance or is it something more sinister...WHO has decided to have so called 'grandstand Sundays' for example.
I digress. Returning to my main point of Everton's fortunes since the end of last season...
Why did we find it so hard to sign anybody? Why has David Moyes been linked to ANY job that has come up for the last year? Why are the knives out for our players, especially Joleon Lescott...I could go on.
The press usually treat Everton with total indifference, but at the moment it is as if they are trying to dislodge David Moyes, because his tenure constitutes a genuine threat to the established order of things ( ie a premier league with an unchanging elite ). So, why not destabilise him and let Everton end up with Sam Allardyce...and pose no long term threat.
David Moyes has worked wonders at Goodison despite comparative poverty and he has ratcheted up our success. He has taken steps forward and then taken steps back, but the trend is forwards and that is what others fear.
I'll be heckled for being a conspiracy theorist I am sure, but Villa, Blackburn or Man City fans: it will be your turn soon...as Bolton fans will tell you...
FOOTBALL AS A COMPETITIVE SPORT IS DYING.

David Moyes is only human & by no means perfect but then who is! When things aren't going well his over diligence is more than a Tad frustrating to say the least.

However this man has transformed the club. Last season was our best since the 1980's . We may have finished 4th a few years ago but our level of play was far better last season.

There is no doubt are currently in a dip , but like before, I have no doubt we will recover. In terms of Europe it is disappointing going out so early but, if at the end of the season it means we can focus & finish a bit higher in the league then it is not really that finacially damaging.

Moye's real strength is he constantly wants to improve, this may lead to short term blips but we have to be confident of the longer term, otherwise like some other clubs you end pressing the self distruct button.

Yes we need more money, but money from anyone is not neccesarily common sense. If I were an American owned club at present then I would be a little concerned. We are good well run club with little money & if we can stay a good well run club but with money , then the futures good.

ok

It has already been demonstrated that money is not the key to success. Liverpool, Arsenal and Man U achieved success first which enabled them to afford the top players. Leeds Utd tried to do it the other way round. The ideas that Everton overachieved last season and that they are punching above their weight are nonsense. You simply cannot possibly achieve beyond your capabilities. The team that reached 5th last season is now lacking confidence most likely because of the absurd and demoralizing comments made by the chairman Mr. Kenwright that Everton needs a billionaire and that they are punching above their weight. In simple terms he is saying that the team was lucky to reach 5th last season and that the players aren't good enough. How is the manager supposed to motivate his players when the chairman makes comments like that. Mr. Kenwright has spent his entire life in the fantasy worlds of TV and football and knows little about business which is what a chairman needs to understand most of all. Everton don't need a billionaire, they need a chairman who understands business.

I can't wait for him to sign the blasted contract. If it's been annoying me this much the last few months, think how it's affected the players who play under him...

Absolutely right! I have been an Evertonian since the 1970s and have seen many managers come and go. It's only my humble opinion, but I think we are very lucky to have David Moyes as our manager.

I think the problems at the moment are related to Keith Wyness's sudden resignation and the lack of cash for players. My understanding is also that David Moyes wants to ensure this doesn't happen again as it is very unsettling for the team and the entire club.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't it Wyness that made the "punching above our weight" comment?

There seem to be increasing rumours of a takeover bid at Everton. Can anybody shed any light on this? Maybe Mr Moyes believes this will result in a better contract offer? Or, conversely, maybe he feels that new owners won't want him? It could be that not only the players but Moyes himself are being unsettled by the uncertainty. One way or another, the saga seems to drag on.... the latest rumour of the contract being signed before the Newcastle game seems to have been yet another false dawn. sadface
