Anyone have any interest in the Arc this coming weekend?

Is Zarkava as good as we think?
I beleive personally she could be one of the best horses of our generation- no doubt already ranking with the greatest fillies.
Question marks however are placed by her, at least in my opinion.

Can she stay the distance shes yet to takle, can she perform on whats sure to be testing ground conditions (not to significant as has performed on these conditions in the past), more importantly can she hold up her good form against top class seasoned colts, the duke of marmalade, soldiers fortune and a great chance at 8-1 Vision Dtat, on a fine winning streak?

Lets wait and see whats sure to be a great race.

BEWARE THOUGH

There's no betting in-running and you cannot take a price when you place your bet and, with no free market and no on-course bookies to loosen up trade, it takes only a small amount of money to cause the odds of a fancied runner to fall through the floor. There's also that old PMU sting of coupling horses in the same ownership at one reduced price instead of laying the supposed second string or pacemaker at bigger odds

In Britain the Tote deduct roughly 16% from the on-course win pool, their equivalent of the bookmakers' percentage profit over-round. In France the PMU take a fat 28% from the pool. This accounts for their administrative expenses, the share they pay to the French government and the share that goes back to French racing, leaving a miserly 72% to be paid out to punters.

Nass, they also have to pay the PMU employees vast sums of money to go to sneering school.

They have to do that with the Tote staff at Bath races too!!

And to think some punters would rather have a betting monopoly like in France.

No thank you!!

laughok

Very true indeed. I went in 2005 and the attitude of the PMB man in our enclosure made my forecast on Hurricane Run and Westerner taste all the more sweeter. You'd have thought he was giving away his own money!

Very very true,CP. Ever since an Exceptionally Confrontational Incident in (I think) Akiyda's year, Queenmambo's called it the PMT window and won't go back.EVER!! SO THERE!!!!

Superlion, you may be right (particularly if Shamardal's right about Adlerflug),and good luck. One thing: where will you bank the winnings? Aren't Icelandic banks all in a state of icy meltdown ?

I have backed both Meisho Samson and Kamsin each way. Meisho Samson will be fine on quicker ground and if it is too deep, Kamsin will win. Kamsin may well be the best 3 year old colt in Europe over 1m 4f. His defeat of Adlerflug last time doesn't entitle him to up with the leading horses here though.

When I say if is too deep, for kamsin to win, it has to be nearly unraceable.
