Paulie will upset Ricky

Light welter

I really hope Ricky Hatton wins his fight with Paulie but I can't see it.

Hatton's come-back fight against Lazcano reminded me of Hamed's return fight after losing to Marrrco Antonio B.

It pains me to say it but Hatton will never be the same fighter again.

Miguel Cotto is a much better boxer/puncher than Ricky Hatton and also, he's a lot stronger. Malignaggi was able to go 12 rounds with Cotto and in my opinion Paulie gave a very good account of himself. Without the knock-down, one of the score-cards would have had Cotto winning 115-113, Paulie's face didn't tell the story of the fight - in my opinion. Even though Paulie has had some lackluster performances in the mean-time, if Paulie shows up at his best then he wins

I can't see Hatton stopping Paulie, I can't see Hatton outboxing Paulie, but I can see Paulie outboxing Hatton and maybe even stopping a tired Hatton in the championship rounds.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, I want to see Hatton take on De La Hoya and/or Pacquiao because win, lose or draw, it'll be his legacy.

Sometimes it's more than just winning that counts. At least Hatton has tried and is still doing so.

What're your predictions for this fight?

Good luck to Ricky Hatton. I'll be cheering him on.

Julius

julius did you watch maliginaggi's fight against n'dou on the undercard to hatton-lazcano?? he was shocking at best and how he got a split decision win is beyond me. PM is not even in the same category as cotto hes only a step up from lazcano. hatton will knock him out by the 6th.

hatton will beat pm but it will be tough. On the topic of floyd mayweather snr taking over as hattons trainer i can only see this as positive as this is what hatton needed at this point in his career.I only hope hatton beats pm convincingly and goes on to better and bigger things .In my opinion hatton still has plenty in the tank as he is only 30 but what does concern me is his lifestlye when he is not training for fights.Having read his autobiography iam not in aggrement with his view of drinking to the point of excess and his eating habits.A top class sportsmen should be disciplined in areas of his life and this to me is hattons downfall ,

** Agreeable in principle, but reality much different.

Top sportsmen run the gamut. For every Rocky Marciano, Hagler, Hopkins, Arguello, you conversely have the Alis, Durans, Pryors, fighters who's excesses well documented.

Ali the non drinker perhaps the worst, quite often showed up in less than stellar shape for many bouts he was made to look quite ordinary in by ordinary fighters.

Duran blew up with party life on the scale of Ricky. Pyror's forays into the drug culture eventually sees him held hostage in a crack house near the end of his career.

Don't think the average citizen understands the sacrifices and work that goes into showing up in topshelf shape as these wayward greats have done.

At heart they are Joe Sixpack and Harry Happymeal that want nothing better than to enjoy a regular life away from camp.

In retirement, Rocky quickly blew up like a balloon just like Ali and Ricky prone to. Arguello joins up with Pryor to commiserate in the crack house, whilst Marvin probably within 15 lbs of his fighting weight and looks ready to step in on short notice tomorrow.

Perhaps the most famous example of excess of course George Foreman, who markets that extra burger and helping of pie into a new career.........hotdog

See no way that Hatton the celebrity boxer can clinch this one. In the last two maybe even three fights his movement is dreadful and his tiredness obvious. If Paulie is smart and dodges hattons body bombs for 3 or 4 rounds then I can only see Paulie peppering him with powder puff shots, not going to stop hatton but likely enough to gain enough points for a victory over a frustrated and tired fatton.

Think this is a fight with no substance between two guys who just flatter to deceive. Look forward to Pacman or Marquez stepping in next year to give one of them the final telling blow and finally give the division a genuine champion

People are being very harsh on Ricky Hatton. He gave a very professional performance and considering he was only coming back from his first defeat and coming down a weight it was a good win over lazcano. Then there is Paul malinaggi who should who in my view was beaten by herman ngoudjo in January and hasnt really beaten anyone of world class stature compared to castillo and tszuyu who hatton has comprehensively beaten. As for those talking about Pacman and marquez ruling light welter weight it just wiont happen for starters pacman will be beaten by de la hoya because everyone thinks hes great when marquez beat him IMO in march and he took apart a paper champion in david diaz. And as for marquez he is on his last legs and after he rules lightweight he will back it in

There is no way Malignaggi can stop Hatton and everyone knows that. The guy has won 5 of his fights by stoppage. FIVE. He knows he can't stop Hatton, but he does have every right to think he can out smart him.....he will however be proven wrong when Hatton out boxes him, proving his doubters wrong on the way to a comfortable middle rounds stoppage of Malignaggi.

And ffs, how did Hatton look shaky against Lazcano? He totally outclassed him (a man rated as a top 10 LWW by the ring mag) and how can anyone say Malignaggi looked good against Cotto? He came out having suffered 2 knock downs and a broken cheek bone! Malignaggi is an ok boxer with no power, Hatton will hurt him badly.
