Jonny Wilkinson has just been taken off against Gloucester, has injured his knee apparently. This is not good news!

I am very disapointed to see Jonny Wilkinson injured again. When this lad is back to his sure brilliance a black cloud always comes over him and put a curse on him. But there will never be a England Flyhalf that takes his place as good as Jonny. I hope that this injury is not as bad as it looks. I would like to see him in the Autum tour if possible. If not I hope he is fit for the six nations in 2009. I think that more times the critics pull Jonny down it makes him more termined to come back even stronger and better than ever. Plus people should not put a price of age on sports people. Plus Danny Cipriani should not jump the gun either cos it could happen again to him on the injury side of things. Come on Jonny prove foke wrong and show what you are made of.

people seem to be missing the fact that Wilkinson's injuries are rarely his own doing- take for example this time where he has had his knee twisted at the bottom of a ruck. having seen falcons play twice this season he is obviously target by platyers on the other sides with the intent to injure him- take for example lamont's late tackle on him in the air in the northampton game. we'll see how long cipriani stays fit.....

Don't think anyone would claim he's being targeted for injury but he does get hit harder and receive closer attention because of his importance to the team.

Newcastle is a bad place for jonny. It is freezing-rainy and he play behind a rubbish pack. He has to tackle double what carter, gits or ROG does per season! Dally said in his biog that he is surprised JW has not opted for a bigger club in the past such as wasps (where he would be better protected) ! Jonny would have had 1500+ test points by now if it wasn't for his huge injury list. The fact is that he is the all time DG scorer, RWC points scorer and Test points scorer of all time highlights what a great player he is.Let'd hope he bounces back. Cips will be better protected at wasps however.

Look, JW plays the game the way we were all coached to play: Play hard, make your tackles and don't shy away from contact. I agree this has cost him with injury after injury, but the way he plays is a credit to the game. He plays like a rugby player, not just a 10.

It is really to the coaching staffs to ensure on defence he is positioned deeper so he is not taking the big or initial contact. This is how many 10s are handled now, and many do not even have the tackling skills. So the question for Jonny is how to stop playing Rugby, and simply play as a 10? This is where the modern game is going. Certainly there can't be many more injuries left before he has no choice but to stop playing.

Donny, that I'm sure sounds commendable to you but it simply isn't practical. Most backs are just not physically big enough to stop some of the lumps that run at them. Instead they have to tackle smart, i.e. tackle the legs. Jonny is enthusiastic and that is commendable but he has pushed his body to athletic proportions and unfortunately one has to wonder if he has pushed it too far and it is now simply breaking too easily?

He should definately be getting more protection from his back row - mind you they are dire
