A formal bid has been placed by the Japanese for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Thoughts??

nottins - are you cyber stalking me again, you naughty little thing.

I'd like to see Italy simply for a change. Otherwise we are just going to get the continual merry go round of the foundation nations.
Sadly its all about money nowadays, and Japan have it, and so do England.
Once all the numbers have been crunched I'm guessing it will go to the two wealthiest bidders - ie Japan and England.

Mikey, you stated the only chance England win it isif they hosted the tournament again. England have only won the tournament away from home.

When are Wales ever going to win a RWC ?

The RFU want it in England because it will hugely boost the game in England and to some degree the world financially and profile wise.

I read it benefitted the French economy by £1 billion.

Most of the supporters and players for the world cups come from the UK anyway.

I notice MP gave England no chance of winning it.

Who has a better chance than England in 2011?

My England team for 2011 is as follows :-

Armitage
Varndell/Foden/Strettle
Tait
Flutey/Vesty
Monye
Cipriani/Flood/Wilko
Care/Ellis/Young/Youngs/ Simpson
Worsley/Haskell/Rees
Moody
Croft
Kennedy
Shaw/Kay/Blaze/Kitchener
Sheridan
Mears/Hartley
Mullan/Bell/Vickery/Wood/Corbisiero

That is a very very useful team with Moody or Croft or Shaw as captain.

Wales Scotland Ireland do not want to be part of this bid fine. But why must England involve them at allleave them out let England stage it alone.
The olympic football team will be all English because again Ireland Wales Scotland wish not to take part. Ok but why do we have to call the team GB when the only country supporting the spot is English.
If England get this bid just wait for the Irish the Scost and the Welsh bleat on about how unfair the world is.
The truth is its only the English that are prepared to work for such events as worl cups and olympics. The door has always been left open for the Welsh the Scots and the Irish to assist us in these events but they always turn England down.
Time for devolution for England. A lot of moaning from the welsh scots and irish on this me thinks.

Totally agree - but why was it not Japan 2011?

Because of the corrupt IRB.

In a sense selecting NZ in 2011 which is going to lose money forced the choice of England in 2015 especially as the RFU were very clever to not bid for 2019.

It is extraordinary that the vote was relatively close - 16 to 10 which proves Scotland did not vote for England !!!

More of the same bartering as before must have happened but this time England had to be chosen because the IRB coffers are going to suffer owing to NZ 2011.

Great for rugby and Japan and the far east that Japan have the WC in 2019.

It is odd that the use is still going to have to be approved even though Scotland and Ireland wanted to be part of a UK bid.

it is my opinion that making japan wait 10 years for the world cup to come to them will be looked at in future years a big mistake which will stop the game ever becoming a true global sport. as a game we have missed the boat with the asian market with this decision. we will be so far behind soccer in that part of the world in 10 years time, that we will never close the gap.

Well who voted for NZ 2011?

Why is it that the votes are still undisclosed on a decision that will cost Rugby a cool £100 million ?????????????
