What Ramos actually needs to do!!

Premier League Tottenham Hotspur

OK guys the start of this season has been diabolical to say the least. However i feel what is needed is some continuity. So what i feel Ramos and co need to do is get a settled 11, and bleed the new signings in as the season goes on. This is because as things stand they cant communicate and don't know the in's and out's of each other's abilities and strengths. So i feel with this starting 11 our season can only get better!!

I have been a lifelong Spurs fan and have suffered with every up and down the club has had. From our abysmal start I can see a few basic problems:

Manager Continuity – There is none and never will be, if we keep changing managers at the drop of a hat. Ramos needs time, the same way that O’Neil / Southgate / Moyes were given it, even if it is more than one season.

Continuity is not just in keeping the same manager but also in keeping (relatively) the same squad. This will never be achieved with Levy’s “profit first” policy. I know exactly how West Ham fans feel. If WHU are the “youth academy” for the whole of the premiership then THFC is the finishing school (Carrick, Kanouté, Berbatov, Keane etc etc).

Play the same core side all the time (bar injury) – Rotate but not for the sake of rotating. Play the same strikers all the time (Think last year Liverpool - Torres). We have been having this “what’s the best combination” discussion for ages. Remember Kanouté? Was he better with Keane or Defoe? Who cares? It should have been the same two strikers starting all premiership games. Rotate for the other competitions if you will.

Bent has to be my first choice – he waited patiently on the bench for the whole of last year and the few times he came on, he nearly always scored. He is deadly and if you give him the games, his confidence will grow and pay us back with goals.

As for formation, 4-4-2 should be the standard. Defensive alternative a 4-2-3-1 à la Capello - with Bent on the point and maybe Modric or Dos Santos just behind. In front of defence Zokora and Huddlestone.

Anyway that’s my penny’s worth. Keep the faith!

You need quality defensive players. Its really that simple. For gods sake get rid of Ledley King already. He is a top player but he cant put two games together and never will so offload him and give the captaincy to Woodgate. To be honest I think Commoli is the man to go. Gomez was a bizarre buy imo. People who have watched Dutch football know he is a prime example of a good shot stopped but a mistake waiting happen. Hes the Brazilian David James. If you dont get some quality players in that are used to the Prem you will really struggle. By the time your new guys get used to the Prem you will be in a real relegation dogfight.

"i can already c juande as a the new tinker man in the prem, wot is it wit the spanish!?!?!"

Ranieri was of course Italian! winkeye

I agree Ramos needs to stick to 11-15 core players, but I would cry if he picked the suggested team up top.

The best side is surely:

Gomes

Hutton, Woodgate, King, Bale

Zokora

Bentley, Jenas, Modric, Dos Santos

Pavlyuchenko

It was that type of team which drew at Chelsea.
Corluka should cover Hutton/King. Lennon should cover Bentley until he fits in. And Bent should come on when losing!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Why oh why does Dos Santos not get much game time? He played more at Barcelona! Gilberto and Ekotto are not GOOD!!

And stop playing O'Hara, Huddlestone and Zokora in the same side, it stinks of bottom half (mind u better than bottom, haha).

We know what happened! Levy (being a shrewd businessman) sold Keane for 18mln cause who else would get that amount for a 28yo. He held out for the highest bid for Berbs. In doing so he left it to the 11th hour to buy a replacement. He couldn't get one good enough so he bought a player who was 'left on the shelf' as all other top class strikers had already been snapped. Ramos is now panicking with a make-shift team and the more we lose, the more he changes the team. HE NEEDS TO PLAY THE TEAM THAT HELD CHELSEA TO A DRAW - THAT'S THE START AND THEN BUILD FROM THERE WHEN INJURIES/REPLACEMENTS ARE NEEDED. He cannot chop and change players all round the park. This will never establish consistency and player pairings throughout the season. Now the coach cannot think straight - I mean Gilberto on left side of field at Portsmouth was a joke! He did nothing, never run outside a 10m radius and a coach just can't do these things! The time for 'trying' new ideas is over! Those types of things should have been tried pre-season! Not when we are struggling at the bottom without a win. We had Bent, Lennon, Huddlestone, De Santos, all on the bench and any one of these players could have better in that position! This decision (from a so-called top interational coach) was totally confusing. Then to bring Bent on with 18 minutes to go and 2-0 down? Well, I ask you!

It might be true that this is our worst start to a season since 1955, but that year we went on to beat Arsenal both at home and away that season, and finish 18th in the league. At this moment in time, I'd settle for that!

like everyone else I would just like to see some consistency in Team selection. Ramos howevever needs to be given more time ,it was the same with Joll A manager I thought was let go too easy if our supporters were a little bit more supportive of JOLL he might still be at the helm instead we are languishing at the foot of the table

Being a loyal spurs fan i think that people need to get off the back of Ramos, as i've seen posts on here that say he doesn't know what he is doing. How comes he won the uefa cup and done well consistently with seville if he doesn't know what he is doing!!!!! Frasier Campbell needs to play up top with pav on the last man, campbell can be the link between midfield and attack, jenas and thudd centre mid, with lennon and gio on the flanks, play zakora RB till hutton's back, with corluka and woody CB's and bale LB, with gomes between the sticks, rather than spend £16mil on bentley should have bought arshavin. Bent has got to be sold lets see if comolli can make a profit out of him, lets hope he goes to man u for £30 mil, they seem to like our players.
