choccy20 (U13634607) posted Oct 13, 2008 Very interesting to read that Law playing in the ICL was part of the decision.Just another example of who is really running world cricket and its not the ICC another county giving in to threats by the Indian Cricket Board about counties not playing in the Champions cup Lancs Board you are gutless

lucretious (U13635541) posted Oct 14, 2008 quite stunnedby SL's departure. how we can afford to part with our best bat after an abysmal batting display in 08 is beyond me. 23 bonus pts. from a poss. 80!!! he was worth at least one more season-as was Cork. if there's one person's head on the block it should be Mike Watkinson's. we haven't won a meaningful trophy since 1999 and with sinecurism obviously rampant at OT it could be another 74 years before we win the county championship! this is little short of scandalous for the best supported club in county cricket. if MW and the cricket committee were running a public company or a football club for e.g. they would have been swept away long ago by irate shareholders/fans. maybe the day is looming nearer at OT!!

BlueCheese (U225484) posted Oct 14, 2008 Well we have to assume that there will be signings as well as these releases. I don't have a problem with losing SL as long as we can sign a decent batsmen (or two).

mr_hunion123 (U13636185) posted Oct 14, 2008 Did a statement get released saying we are investing in youth players?! I have a friend who plays in the Lancs league who tells me all the recent Lancs youngsters have been released to join other counties, and are generally doing well! Are these big names being taken off the wage bill co-incidence with the multi-million developments due at Old Trafford? Comment on this article |
