chefonbike (U13418315) posted Sep 29, 2008 Nicoles win was fantastic! The race was certainly the best womens worlds race for some time and as exciting as the Olympics. Nicole should be recognised at the Sports Personality Awards for the double. Her interviews on Eurosport and BBC during the mens race were good to hear, with a lot of emphasis on the work the rest of the team had done. Nicole is a credit to the sport!

pedalcyclist6 (U13449763) posted Sep 29, 2008 Whilst I recognise and applaud the significant Welsh successes in the Olympics, Nicole is outstandingly consistent irrespective of the occasion. If she doesn't win the Welsh Sports Personality of the Year it will be a travesty!

ilsoxon (U13456637) posted Sep 30, 2008 re omgidbi I would suggest that Nicole is first and foremost an outstanding athlete with a charm and personality to match. Suggesting that she requires a makeover is an incredibly stupid and insulting suggestion. Her openness and genuine regard for the work of the rest of the team is a joy to behold. I am saddened that somehow she should look otherwise especially having just completed over three hours in the saddle. If you cannot see the beauty in that then I suggest you reconsider your comments.

omgidbi (U8078647) posted Sep 30, 2008 ilsoxon. you are 100% correct. I tried to word my thoughts very carefully. It has nothing to do with what she looks like at the end of a race though, but if she was to adopt the approach of Pendleton she would get more fans guaranteed. Good for her, good for the sport - but if you doubt me - next time you are in the hairdressers/barbers i dare you to ask for a permed mullett with highlights, and proceed to dress up like timmy mallett. you just wouldn't - and why? Because it matters....

paulthebike (U6811509) posted Oct 2, 2008 All a bit unrelated to cycling - but if Nicole is going to become better known outside of cycling circles that is the approach she'll need. Victoria Pendleton once mentioned in an interview that she'd enjoyed doing the photo shoot - having her hair, make-up etc and reminded us that she still enjoyed doing girlie things - her words - we must remember that away from cycling these are young women and they should be allowed to be seen as attractive young women accordingly - we only really see them in their "work clothes" Comment on this article |
