On a show circuit where there is no overtaking possible the race and possibly championship can be decided by team strategy.
Massa on pole gets away cleanly, Kimi, who is in the supporting role for the team now, goes aggressive on Hamilton on a track with little escape options. Ooops, we collided, sorry old chap.

saraminap: I'd just like to point out that you're manipulating data to a great extent, there are reasons behind these drives that need to be included in your argument before you proport them as supporting said conclusion.

The only reason Hamilton finished 9th in Europe was because of a punctured tire (which happened at the start of the lap so he had to limp back to the pits). In Malaysia LH had a lot of problems too (and it wasn't an inspired drive but he made up six places) and in Monza if the rain had come back Hamilton would have at least finished second, thus he was pretty proficient in coming through the field. Also, the French grand prix was because LH had been penialised with a drive through penalty from an incident on the first lap (which relegated him to 20th with a considerable distance to make up). Your results prove nothing of driving ability as in each case an exceptional circumstance happened e.g. puncture, unfortunate and unpredicted weather and drive through penalty relegating person to last.

We all know Hamilton can overtake and is rarely stuck behind a slower car which cannot be said about Massa although he's a fantastic driver. It's a futile argument to say that Massa is far better at this aspect - he is more cautious for a start and this is one of his strengths in other contexts. Everything is not a fanboy contest to get everything right.

He DID choke big time at Monza. When he eventually put wets on he was lapping at exactly the same time as Massa, same tyres same conditions. MASSA IMPROVED, LEWIS WAS 3.5 SECONDS SLOWER. He was crying on the radio "I can't it's too bad" instead of getting on with it. The brake warming up issue was HIS FAULT as well, he didn't use them enough in the outlap, the team said it clearly and if I'm not mistaken he admitted it too.

But anyway that's in the past, now is 7 tenths enough or want some more?

Fernando has the ability to be three times world champion however.

Just as Hamilton had the ability to drive his way through the field from 15th to 2nd. The if was used to illustrate the quality of the performance, everyone did expect rain so the 'if' wasn't unlikely at all.

I think someone should break out some overtaking stats to settle this matter once and for all. Hamilton overtakes people more often than Massa does, it's a fact. Just as Raikkonen having more fastest laps than anyone else in the drivers lineup (third of all-time).
