What are Bernie's intentions?

Formula One

Quick thought, Bernie is slowly attempting to kill the European races off and replace them with the Asian races but then he tries to get the Asian races to become night races to maximize audience.

So here is the question, if he wants to maximize the European audience why not keep the European season and not keep bringing in all these races in countries where formula 1 is even less of a minority sport than it is here?

I am a Singaporean and am immensely proud of how we managed to stage the night race.

But I've also been an F1 fan for many years. Looking at all the fanfare and the glamour associated with the event before the race, I was wondering if F1 is still about racing. And then with the increasing number of tracks designed so that overtaking is determined by the pit-stop strategies, I see less and less of drivers trying to outdo each other.

Yet, with all the incremental performance due to technology, perhaps the drivers do not matter all that much anymore.

"technological advances" F1 has v8s, grooved tires....what's the point of making any aero advances when you've got grooved tires negating the advantage you've spent millions to achieve? slicks, turbos, diesels, CVT and be done with it. That's indycar in 2011. F1 will be less "advanced" with horrible racing and yes...lower quality drivers. Indy will have davide fore, marco ardigo...all the guys who killed, killed your beloved lewis hamilton. game over bernie, time to retire.

Do you really think that IRL will have to sink so low looking for drivers? I'm sure they'll be able to find people who can drive a car rather than those still-karting losers.

call ove olsson team manager of Newman-Wachs F. Atlantic team. He's seen the Pi data pal, Fore and Ardigo are WAY, WAY better than anyone in F1. Ardigo is on for 2009. Deal with it! Also deal with a Ramat Gan-Tel Aviv street race and a Losail race and a possible Autopolis race in 2010. try to spread some positive vibes; it's not my fault I'm an insider.

No series with Tony George in charge will ever succeed. Ever.

NASCAR have him trussed up like a turkey.

As for international expansion, please. Ticket sales for Motegi IRL vs. Suzuka/Fuji F1? The truth is out there.

If Tony can capture the huge Israeli market erm I'll give him all the credit that's due. But I doubt he can even spell it.

I think even someone as stupid as T.George can succeed given the backdoor deals he's cut recently...Sultan Bolkiah and Emir al-Thani ring bells? I guess Brunei was tired of Malaysia and Singapore getting all the exposure in SE ASIA, and Qatar with Bahrain and Abu Dhabi in the MidEast. IndyCar is a lot cheaper, and they've demanded that the series be faster than F1. Look for Fore in the Royal Brunei car. Cheap advertising and a death blow to Bernie and Max. They should have let dim Tony G. have his F1 race in Indy afterall. Underestimating even the stupid is dangerous

"a death blow to Bernie and Max"

laugh Oh steve, you do it to me every time. Do keep us updated with how that IndyCar world domination plan goes, won't you?

I'm afraid you're destined to see lots more of Marty Roth and Milka Duno and other drivers of similar "calibre" for a good while yet.

Once Marco wins the Indy 500 he'll be off to Europe like his dad. They know the score.

spec/steve - You know what? The more drivel you spout the more ridiculous you make yourself look.

I agree with Mozzer, it's all about money, like pretty well all modern sport. If only Bernie would remember that he who dies with the most toys, still dies. How much dosh does one man need? Especially as he surely hasn't got long to spend it.
