"The contrast was clear"

Championship QPR
comment on the article

2-0 to Derby - their first away win in the league since March 2007. A dismal day for Rangers.

Iain Dowie talked afterwards about the difference between today's performance and the one at Aston Villa.

He said: “The contrast was clear – we won lots of second balls and passed the ball well on Wednesday night, but this time we didn’t.

“I’ll have a look at the stats and I bet, in terms of unforced errors, there will be a huge amount – and that’s why we couldn’t get up a head of steam.

“We had two defensive lapses and conceded goals from set-pieces, which is galling. But we’ve got an opportunity to bounce back against Blackpool on Tuesday night and we must do that.

“When we did pass the ball well we created the best chance of the game and had that gone in, the game could have been different.

“This result hasn’t changed the way I feel. I still believe we’ve got a good bunch of lads here and they can bounce back.

“Sometimes you just have to take things on the chin. Derby beat us today, so good luck to them.”

I'm sure many of you will have a view on this result, so over to you.

That is hilarious!

Even David M has nothing to say.

That says a lot about the match and the team.

Hardly a dreadful result.

We have a much better squad than yours. They're just getting together.

Poor performance...only Stewart & Hall coming out with any kind of credit. Cerny...was terrible, he would have trouble catching a cold!!!!!Now, hopefully, Lee Camp WILL get his chance against Blackpool on Tuesday. Buzz, is still short of first team match fitness, however this will come. Dex had no service, and he badly needed someone to play off today. Cookie did ok when he came on, as did Agyemang (can someone let me know how he got his nickname of Dave). I paid £40 for today's performance, I wonder if I can get a refund. I don't mind paying £40, but I do expect the players to give their all and play to the best of their ability - something they know they didn't do today.
At the start, I predicted doh that we would win 3-0, with Dex getting the first. As my predictions are getting worse and worse, I will predict we will lose against Blackpool on Tuesday night winkeye

Apparently it comes from Only Fools & Horses, I think! But I still haven't found out why, NINJ!!

I dont think the players didn't "give their all" - I just think there were so many playing out of position (Parejo, Buzz, Rowly & Connolly spring to mind) & we lost our shape - if we had one in the first place!!

I'm hoping there's a marked improvement from the management team on Tuesday - rather than the players. I think they did the best they could but couldn't handle the odd way Dowie sent them out!

Comes back to why change a winning formula? Dowie wants to rotate the players - that's fine by me. But at least put the players into their correct positions - I thought that was why we had so many midfielders - so they could play in their natural positions. EG Parejo is an attacking midfielder - Rowly is central midfielder - Mahon & Legs are defensive midfielders. So why leave Legs on the bench & play Parejo as a defensive midfielder behind Mahon?

Oh, I'm just repeating myself - sorry!! (Guess I'm hoping Dowie'll come on here tonite to read our sensible suggestions so he can draw inspiration from us for Tuesday night laugh)

Well all i can say is that Derby looked more up for it today. They were in our faces from the first minute and looked like they had more energy than us.Our passing and movement was below par,Dex playing the lone role will work if we can get the ball into his feet but to often today when Cerney got the ball it was lumped up in the air and was easy for the Derby defence to pick up the pieces.

I think the hype of the Villa win was in their minds today and im hoping this result will bring them back to earth and make them realise that we cant just turn up and expect to win,we have to put the effort in every game if we are going to have a realistic chance of finishing in the playoff places.

I feel, you will reach the playoffs at-least, its not the end of the world, losing one game, its when it becomes a string of losses,
anyways, was just wondering what were your thoughts on Derby's performance today, as we have them on Tuesday?
Have they finally got their act together, or was you too poor today!?

Cheers..

"what were your thoughts on Derby's performance today?"

They were the closest thing I've seen to the Wimbledon side of the eighties. They shut you down, don't give you anytime to play, then just hoof it forward, I thought they were a truly terrible team to watch.

as for R since 78's comments. everyones entitled to their opinion I suppose, mine is that we pretty much dominated the game and I would have been disappointed if we hadn't left with all 3 points. You had a few chances here and there but other than that you looked pretty ordinary. As for the Wimbledon comment, maybe you should try to be more direct, your teams passing today was nothing short of embarrassing. Some of the comments about you should be beating the likes of Derby are also funny, QPR haven't done anything in this league since you got promoted 4 years ago, and going by yesterday all your money isn't going to change that.

As a QPR fan at the game its a joke to accuse Derby of hoof ball. Lets just be honest, they are the first team to come here this season and play in your face football and have the ability to pass to each other in possession. It was only our defence that kept us in it. As I've said before, we cannot compete against fast and strong sides. Stats: Sheffield Utd, Coventry, Derby - 3 games, no points, no goals.

I said this after the Sheff U game and it is still clear. Dexter is just not enough up front. When you play at home with a 4-5-1 formation, it doesnt look like you want to win.
Why do we have a striker on the bench whos goal scoring ability last year was so evident. By playing Agyemang and Blackstock we have the obvious ability to be more lethal in front of the goal.
