As revealed in a BBC Sport Scotland interview with Alison Walker, Barry Ferguson hopes to be back in four to six weeks.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

The Scotland and Rangers midfielder is currently working hard to bring up his fitness, working on a 'pre-season' type plan with his aim to play in a reserves match as early as three weeks from now.

Will the captain stroll straight into the side?

What about his Scotland role?

Barry mentions that he may hope to make it in time for the friendly international in November.

What are your thoughts?

He should not just get back in the first team straight away

The midfield is doing fantastic at the minute and I dont see why someone should be dropped from it to get Barry back in

Barry is a good player, but he is no world beater, and Walter is wrong to say he will be straight back in the first team no matter what.

Pathetic attitude from Smith

No-one should ever be told in advance they are an automatic pick, but if he gets fully fit then Fergie will still be our best player. As others have pointed out, he ran himself into the ground last season. If we had had more midfield options last spring then we could have given him a rest every now again, and might have won the quadruple.
When he comes back, just drop Thompson, who ggrafts but doesn't have the finesse of the other contenders.

They don't call him Barry Armband for nothing you know! He'll prove all the doubters wrong as I think he'll be in exceptional form when he returns to full fitness ok

Aye, rangers where mince against partick, boyd sweating profusly and was barely able to walk at the end, well, the whole team was rubbish....keep it up bhoys!!!! Barry is a rather self centred bloke who like his armband and the publicity that goes with it, he was average last season and he will be the same this season, will be good viewing!! laugh

couldnt agree more klita, we need to play much better than we did last night, and the addition of Wee Barry Armband to the starting line-up would not have done anything to improve matters. Smith should admit he was wrong to come out with such mince about him walking straight back into the team, and instead look to get the best offer possible for him in January - Birmingham City anybody???

the main problem before apart from the unjury is that hes always felt he had to do everything on the park, now new players have come in during his absense, he will have players around him to help out etc, thomson, mendes for starters. look at how well he performed week in week out with the likes of gio, albertz, tugay, reyna etc. now im not comparing the current crop to these guys, all im saying is that with players of a good ability beside him, he can up his game, wait and see

fergie should get a game ahead of that irish muppet davis who is a waste of space! Why people were whinging for his return i'll never know! It was probably these unionist glory hunters looking for an excuse to embarrass the club yet again with their sectarian filth!
