Live - Wednesday's Carling Cup

League Cup
comment on the article

Anyone would have thought Arsenal's kids had already won the Carling Cup - well there's an awfully long way to go yet, folks.

Tonight sees some more big-hitters getting involved. Villa host QPR, Everton travel to Blackburn, Man City are in Brighton and Chelsea play Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Oh, and the two worst teams in the Premier League go tete-a-tete at St James' Park, as crisis club Newcastle welcome crisis club Tottenham to the hotbed of calamity that is currently Tyneside.

Carling Cup me up, people.

Newcastle would be daft to bring in the Arthur Daley (Venables)of football,he's only interested in another nice little earner, what has he done for any club.

Man Utd probably shall get a Premier League club in the draw, as they always do, and we shall still beat them! Altough they is only 11 out of 20 Premier League sides left for the draw.

i love the idea that a Nigerian consortium may take over the toon , would be great if it turned out to be a 419 scam lol ,

As for venables? well it would be good for the game to have venables back in the Premier League winkeye

What's happened to Newcastle has been coming for a long time. They don't just need a manager, they need a staff shake up. If Venables came in the pressure would be on him to get results immediately, which, with Newcastle in it's current state of all round dejection, doesn't look possible. He'd get them up to about 9th or 10th by the end of the season, 8th at a push, and then be fired because he didn't win anything. This issue isn't one that's going to be easily resolved.
