Chelsea 1 - 1 Manchester Unitedby Traffordlord (U9370403) 21 September 2008
Before he lost the ball and subsequently committed that needless foul that led to Kalou's free header, you could see SAF agitated, and signaling to Rooney to calm down and get more composed. Rooney for United has been thoroughly ineffective this season, he doesn't look like he is ever in position to rip the net. All the blame isn't his, its up to SAF to put the lad into a position where he can succeed the most. One of our most creative players should not be that deep, that late in the game...not when the blues have 3 strikers on. SAF started with a good line up but failed to keep pace with Scolari's adjustments. Our answer to Kalou was O'Shea...O'SHEA!!!!! this is the man that we ringed up to stop lampard, mikel and ballack from bossing the mid-field. No United striker on the field today has found the net this season (FACT). There is a lot to say here, but it is safe to say that to win the league will be a very demanding task this season. Cannon13 (U11688876) posted Sep 24, 2008 Ferguson afterwards expressed his surprise at the number of bookings, arguing that there hadn't been a bad tackle in the match. But I could think of at least four - the ones that earned bookings for Neville (tripped Anelka), Rooney (clobbered Ashley Cole), Berbatov (tripped Ballack, his fourth offence) and Scholes (going in from behind and through the player, as usual). And what Ferguson seems to be forgetting is that you can be booked for other things than tackles. Dissent, for instance - which accounts for the other three of United's bookings (Ronaldo, Evra, Ferdinand). posted Sep 24, 2008 Ferguson can be pig headed at times, I mean all managers can, but I agree, when stupid things happen on the pitch protecting your players by not publicly condemning them is one thing but that also leads to players thinking they are above the law.

cardinalabruzi (U13412414) posted Sep 24, 2008 i think that SAF should try and understand that the game should always be fair and considerate of other oppositions and not to win at all cost, i expected the blues to be more desperate as regards our home record but utd showed more desperation resulting in the 7 yellows, how then can SAF insist on a clean game with 7:1 caution.

Trickiano_Ricaldo (U12288213) posted Sep 24, 2008 Sorry, from a neutral perspective Man United's behaviour was shocking against Chelsea. Every single tackle they went in for when the ref blew up for a foul, they complained not once, not twice, but nearly EVERY single time!

Riccy's also not afraid to run forward with the ball from time to time, go see a Chelsea match and see... There is nothing anyone can have against Carvalho because he is a role model."
