Beijing -- A Highly Predictable Final!!?

Jankovic vs. Kuznetsova!!!

A final which everyone will guess the result -- Kuzzy is only ONE win in her last 11 finals, and that was due to the retirement of A. Szavay, who led one set to love, in N.H. 2007.

Will Kuzzy make it 1 in 12 tomorrow? What bothers me is that she has always been the worst version of herself in finals. I sincerely hope that tomorrow will be different!

Davai Sveta!!!

Jankovic 6-3,6-2!

It is hardly a surprise, since Kuzzy also lost Tokyo final in similar ease!

One can only pity Sveta who is now only ONE win (thanks to retirement of Szavay in 2007 N.H)in her last 12 (TWELVE)finals.

I think that now anyone who reaches a final facing Kuzzy on the other side has ALREADY won the tilte!

Congratulations to JJ for what looks like a comprehensive win 6-3 6-2.

A bit I saw her the other day showed her playing much more aggressively rather than just reactive.

Perhaps 2009 will be a slam year for her ok

Well, the draw for Stuttgart has been released. Looks to be an interesting week of tennis, Serena will play Vaidisova or Li Na in the second round and then potentially Kuznetsova in the QF; to me it looks like Serena has the hardest draw. Safina will either play Cornet or a qualifier, most likely Cornet. Jankovic will play either Alona B. or Eleni Daniilidou. Venus will play Anna-Lena G. and finally Elena will either play Bammer or Tatjana Malek.

Predictable Final, and a predictable result. Annus horriblus for Kuznetsova on the face of it, Jelena will be pleased with the progress but ultimately disappointed it wasn't more fruitful in the end.

Just watched the highlights and It seems to me that JJ is making some improvements to her game which culd make a big difference in future.

The service is better and more accurate even if its not out and out power.

She is switching more easily between defence and offence and is not quite so rooted to the baseline - she is playing more aggressively and creating better angles with better movement.

As for Kuzzy - the usual disaster spraying balls often too long - for a player with all the shots and power its just amazing how she lets things run away from her.

Interesting news, Venus & Serena will also be playing doubles at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Stuttgart. An interesting week has just become even more interesting.

Yes, playing doubles has certainly resulted in improved performances by the Williams sisters at the net....
