JC and Roy Jones Jnr will be at Cardiff City Hall this Saturday 20th September to meet fans. Think it starts at 11:00am. Being a valley boy get to see Joe out and about quite often but will also be great to see RJJ. Will be good for Roy to come back to his homeland aswell. He'l fit right in being a Jones.

If Pavlik did fight and beat Joe, would all JC's critics reverse the scenario and say (as they do for Hopkins, RJJ, Toney etc) that Joe is just to old, and that in his younger days he would have hammered Pavlik?

Ive gotta be honest tho Chris, and i say this without wanting to get drawn into a Calzaghe argument with ya, i really think Pavliks another fighter made for calzaghe. Im no nuthugger, Im a massive fan of Joe, but honestly do see the holes in the record and question marks over his career. I feel Joe would absolutely hammer him though, and I swear I say that with no bias whatsoever, thats just my personal opinion.

Awww... all these compliments flying around pre-fight, I reckon there will be more hugging going on than a Hopkins fight.

All together now:
Roy and Joe, up a tree...

valleysdta, you say you "think" Pavlik is made for Calzaghe. Hopefully Joe will stop running then. Like it or not, he ducked the fight and went with Roy Jones Jr. instead. Joe claims Roy is a bigger fight - that is a complete joke. The majority of the fans in attendance will be Welsh and the PPV numbers will be very poor - we'll see what the figures are after the fight - Cotto V Mosley did around 500,000 PPV buys and that wasn't even considered a mega super-fight - a big fight though. I'd be very suprised if Jones V Calzaghe recahed that number. If Calzaghe would have took on Pavlik in Atlantic City then thousands from Ohio would've turned up. The gate would've have been balanced and not only that, the PPV numbers would've been much higher than what a fight with Jones will produce. Jones V Trinidad did 500,000 buys only because Felix is considered a great to the Hispanic community in America - Calzaghe is an unknown - Joe made his debut on HBO against Sakio Bika. Roy Jones at 40 years of age is a shot fighter. At 26, Pavlik will have taken on Edison Miranda, Jermain Taylor (twice) and Bernard Hopkins. Pavlik is a proven champion in his prime, he didn't win his titles from Beyer and Siaca like Kessler did - he knocked out the man who beat Hopkins, twice, twice. Calzaghe deserves strong condemnation.

** Yesssssssssss!!!!!

8th grader union should issue a 10 page communique condeming Joe in a scalding public address over the school intercom.

Just make sure you don't include any naughties or Headmaster Skinner to tan your hides and put you in the stocks....diva

Marciano and Calzaghe in the same sentence? Jones is worse than I thought. His reasoning appears to have gone.

I think Calzaghe should fight Tommy Farr, a promising young Welshman.

I lol'd at this article. JC has been lucky to step into a "void" as it where, when all the decent Middleweights, and SuperMiddles have either gone past it, or retired. Had he been around when Benn, Eubank, Jones Jr were all about then JC wouldn't of figured. Probably would of been stopped by all 3.

It seems a little odd to compare the great Rocky with Calzaghe. Marciano's competition was far stronger in those days than the hurdles Joe has overcome in his career – chief of which was being outclassed (for much of the fight) by a 44-year-old has-been.

I must admit when I first heard the RJJ fight was on that I strongly fancied Calzaghe, however, the nearer we get to fight-night, the more I favour RJJ.

There are only three years between the two fighters, and that's not a lot. The RJJ of old was far more skilled and powerful than any Calzaghe I've seen; if RJJ is conditioned and hungry I fancy a very close fight, perhaps even an upset.

I love notcing little details in the Fan's Behaviour during the build-up to a fight. I notice that a lot of the people who are slagging off Joe Calzaghe are the people who, when Joe beat Kessler, were heaping praise on him. Strange how times change isn't it. I wonder if Calzaghe had chosen to fight Pavlik instead of Jones Junior would you be saying all the things that you are saying. I very much doubt it. If those people who praised calzaghe when he beat kessler would own up then I think that at least you have guts to do so. If not then you simply aren't a boxing fan and are Just jumping on the hate "Calzaghe Bandwagon" to not feel like the odd one out. Oh well.

As for me I'll say Calzaghe to win by Unanimous Decision. And as for the talk of Jones Jr being past it I ask you again to watch his fight with trinidad. He looked as sharp as I've certainly ever seen him. Maybe I've not watched enough of his fights. He did really destroy trinidad and got in some good jab combinations and had phenomenal speed considering his age. He will certainly give Calzaghe a tough fight.

I have seen a lot of great fighters,Keenan to Terry Downes.JC is a credit to the fight game. The fight with Roy Jones will not be a classic as Jones stays on his bike and snaps in speed combinations .Joe will have to chase him all night and hope that it is a small ring and fight him in the corners. All respect to Jones but his fights do not make for good viewing.I hope I am wrong but I aint
