toffeejones (U2962106) posted Sep 14, 2008 We lost the cohesion we had in defense last season with Carsley leaving. Moyesies idea was to get Carsleys replacement in early in close season to shore things up. That obviously didnt happen.

gandini (U6086062) posted Sep 15, 2008 Fellaini & Castillo's passing leaves a lot to be desired. They put themselves around a bit and I'm sure they'll do brilliantly when they've been in the team a while...but I haven't seen that many stray and overhit passes since Gravesen last played. Glad Everton got the win. I have to agree Selwaylamps826, Cahill is class

yakscraic (U12585524) posted Sep 15, 2008 I love Timmy Cahill. Love him. His run for that goal was so perfectly timed its unreal. He knows where Mikky is going to out that ball every time and acts on it. The performance as a whole was ok but taken into consideration its away from home with two new signings who Moyes has barely seen i think we have a bright future this season. Not what i was thinking a few weeks back. Pinnear, Cahill, Arteta, Fellaini, Osman, Castillo is a quality midfield, maybe lacking width but arteta and ossie may provide that kiler ball and of course AVM waiting in the "wings" .

Dempsey's Revenge (U1983000) posted Sep 15, 2008 Some of the worst referee work I've ever seen. In the end, Everton won, so there was justice in that Everton was robbed of an obvious penalty. But the referee committee should look long and hard at this game as an example of what not to do.

DiabyToShine (U11805068) posted Sep 15, 2008 I think the result was fair on the basis of the match play. Stoke did what they're going to do to a lot of teams, especially at home which is the way Big Sam made Bolton play. Attack at set plays and use Delap's throw as a deadly weapon, caused Everton all sorts of problems. It's not the prettiest way to play but if they stay up, I cant see a single Stoke fan complaining. The non penalty decision was a complete joke.
