Letter to Rod Hampshire by richbelb (U11057616) 12 September 2008 Well crazy as it seems were sitting pretty at the top of the pro 40 and the county championship. Ok I know things will finish up different but it looks like the boys have saved us from relegation. Is it just a coincidence or is it since GILES WHITE took over as the stand in coach/team manager that the whole season has been turned around ? The team look like a team playing for HAMPSHIRE and winningfor Hampshire. Lets be realistic its not been the best of seasons but there is light at the end of the tunnel. expressmail (U13335139) posted Sep 13, 2008 Well, I am surprised that NO ONE has recognized what Tomlinson has done this season for Hampshire. His performance has played a crucial role thus far. I just hope weather or sloppy cricket from Notts or Somerset or Durham puts Hampshire at the top come the end of season!!

LionelDukeofClarence (U13347666) posted Sep 15, 2008 I agree I believe that Tahir has been an inspiration to give Hampshire what they needed to finish the season on a high. I do believe though that it's just coincided well with Terry leaving as I feel he lost the respect of the squad and they were playing without confidence or passion. Terry had a superb few seasons but we all know who really was in charge through those years??? and with said card shark not returning it proved how much the county relied on him as a person and leader as well as a player. I would like to see Tahir return next season but I think more needs to be complemented on how well Tomlinson's played this season? Also nothing been's said on here about Liam Dawson who has been terrific in the Pro 40's and unfortunately has been overshadowed in these arguements by an overseas player? Hampshire have now got the opportunity with Terry now not in the fold(who clearly appeared to have personal issues stopping him from selecting certain young, quality players) to build for the future and not rely on making sure the overseas player will help us win divisions and trophy's?

richbelb (U11057616) posted Sep 15, 2008 James Tomlinson has been magnificent this season and has shown throughout the season what a fine bowler he is 64 cc wkts is not a fluke he perhaps should have played a few more pro 40 games but the rest between cc matches may have been a blessing. An outstanding candidate for player of the season.
